Side trip to Breckenridge-------Lots of Loafing!

July 27, 2015-Monday-Today promises to be real hot, we're going to take a ride up into the mountain town of Breckenridge. It's definitely a ski town among other snow activities, it also has some shops to poke around in, but mostly it is DOG Friendly! Otis is happy about that, he reminds me he didn't get a bath & a haircut for nothing!?!If everyone is ready....let's go! We don't have to pack a lunch today....we know of a dog friendly restaurant where Otis can join us on the patio!
 It's a very scenic ride....

"Thanks for bring me along mom!"

                                               Is this even legal????

We stopped to view the beautiful cascading creek along side of the road!

Is he.......???   Yes he is!!!

We have definitely seen our share of scenery!
Now in Breckenridge, we're ready for lunch, at least Otis is!
Otis may look insulted but he's really happy! The waiter brought him his own water bowl, I fed him the bacon off my guacamole burger & Len fed his some chicken. He did alright!!!!

Otis rather stay at the restaurant, he's not into shopping much!
Definitely a town with a view!
Otis didn't pay attention to these horses still one of them stomped their hoof, then Otis went into "ON GUARD" mode!!!!
It was fun walking around & eating in Breckenridge. We see rain clouds off the mountains, time to head back & try & beat the rain. Didn't realize how similar Colorado was to Florida during the rainy season!
On our ride back from Breckenridge, we stopped for another scenic photo shot!

This was a sad sight, & we thought we had it bad when we were stuck in the mud bog over in Howard!!!

The temperature while we were in Breckenridge was 69 degrees. When we got back to Aurora & Cherry Creek, the temperature was 93 degrees!!!! Big difference! It cools off real nice in the evenings just about walking time for Otis!!!

Good bye Manitou & Pikes Peak RV Park----Hello Aurora & Cherry Creek State Park----Torture Day for Otis???

July 25, 2015-Saturday-This morning we are leaving Pikes Peak RV Park in Manitou, our destination will be Cherry Creek State Park in Aurora, Colorado. It's only about an hour's drive from here, which means we aren't leaving at the crack of dawn! Instead of otis' usually walk to the park after breakfast, we're taking him on a little stroll!?! This morning when Len was returning from "his walk" he spotted a craft show at the park, a short walk from our RV Park, since we don't have to leave real early, we have time to walk down there & look around!!!!
Lennie & Otis take the lead!
Some of the Vendors were still setting up there wares....

All that stuff on display & I couldn't/didn't find anything I wanted/needed!?!
This is Fountain Creek flowing through the park. While we were here, there was a Hippie baptism going on in the creek! I didn't want to impose  on the peoples religious rituals by taking pictures.(Actually I did want to take pictures but I restrained!)
Time to hit the trail, head back to Pikes Peak RV Park & say good-bye to Manitou!
The spots are tight, good thing Len told our neighbor we were leaving this morning, he moved his truck for his sake as much as ours!
                                    Every thing's connected!
Otis....do we have clearance to take off???
                                       We're off & rolling!

It definitely looks like a Castle!
Notice how the traffic & the scenery is becoming more "citified"? Cherry Creek State Park in Aurora, Colorado is right outside of Denver!
                                          Almost there!!!
                                               We have arrived!
Oh My....look at the backed up traffic waiting to get in!?! Good thing we have reservations???
AAAAAH, we're in!

Home Sweet Home for the next 2 weeks!!!

National Hot Dog Day-----Old Colorado City--Food Trucks Lunch---Mexican Restaurant with Janis

July 23, 2015-Thursday-Today is one of those days we really don't have anything planned, except I am going to be doing laundry....not my favorite but necessary, &....it's only $1.50 to wash here, beats the $2.75 in Salida, I mean if you have to pay to do laundry....you want to pay the least amount you can!?!After we have breakfast & take Otis out, we're going to run around & check out a few Thrift Shops. Thanks to Pinterest I'm going to attempt to try & make a Tshirt scarf. I'm looking for some old Tshirts just to see if I can make this scarf or not. I thought this Tshirt scarf was a new thing as I have just started seeing them in shops, but according to Pinterest postings I see they've been around for awhile I'm just catching on to it!?!
We knew before we headed out that today is NATIONAL HOT DOG DAY & when our running around brought us to the lunch hour, what choice did we have but to have a HOT DOG!?!

In honor of National Hot Dog Day, Sonic had their All American Dog & their Chili Cheese dog for $1.00! Wow....such a deal!?!
At prices like that, we splurged & had 2 hot dogs apiece, one of each! We didn't bring one home to Otis!?!
That was about it for today's venture. I did buy a Tshirt while out thrift shopping, now I will do a practice scarf before I attempt to make one to wear myself, or give away!
We had dinner & I did laundry. Tomorrow is our last day here in Manitou Springs. That week really went by fast!

Visiting an old Friend----Garden of the Gods again, including Sunset at Garden of the Gods

July 21, 2015-Tuesday- This morning I am only having coffee, because I am off to visit  my friend, Janis Michelic Hahn, & I know this visit is going to include lunch!!!I have known Janis since kindergarten(1955) & when our family home burned down the winter of my first grade school year, our large family was taken in by church members & I got to go stay with the Michelic family. I was having such a great time I secretly hoped we never got another house, course I was thinking like a typical 6 year old!!! Janis lives in Colorado Springs, our RV Park is in Manitou Springs, she said we're only 15 minutes away. I'm ready for our visit, she's here & we're going to lunch!!!
The restaurant she chose was called Montague's. It was very unique, a coffee house/restaurant type of place with mismatched furniture & tableware. OOOOH the desserts on display were simply sinful. I was embarrassed to take pictures of all this good stuff, onlookers might view me as strange!?! I don't know if any of my readers were familiar with the Pay it Forward Gift that Facebook had going on but Janis & I were both in it! We exchanged our Pay it Forward  Gifts while waiting for our yummy sandwiches!
I knit Janis a scarf, Colorado weather, she may need a scarf, & she gave me a lovely pair of Turtle (what else!?!) earrings!
I'm thinking I got the better end of the deal!?!
I want you to know we shared that piece of cake!!! It was called Chocolate Cansatta, & it was GOOOOOD!!! We talked for hours, nobody pushed you to leave or even purchase more to eat! She showed me around Colorado Springs a little before bringing me back to the RV Park. We're going to go out for dinner on Friday, Mexican, yum one of my favorites!!! I wasn't hungry when I got back but it was almost dinner time & Lennie is always hungry!!!
