"They say that all good things must end some day, Autumn winds must must blow....." This is the morning, it's all over now but the unpacking! We leave Savannah, Ga heading to Viera, Fl breakfast seemed a little rushed this morning, or maybe that was just my imagination??? The first thing we need is an RV wash. We know where there's a Blue Beacon Truck wash in Brunswick, Ga. A necessary stop, but one that drives Otis stop crazy.
Otis is okay with it till they start using the water wand, then the silly dog tries to attack the water wand!!!It doesn't take long & we're all done...
Before you know it, there we are,
at the Florida Welcome Center! You know you're in Florida when you start seeing the infamous Ron Jon sign, in fact you may start seeing this sign before you see the Welcome to Florida sign! The Ron Jon Shop continues to attract visitors, open 24 hours,7 days a week, closed only on Christmas & if a Hurricane forces them to close!!!!
Seems like a long stretch down I-95 but before you know it, there's our exit!
Now comes the part I hate! The unpacking! It's hot too!!! Funny how much more fun it was packing the bus then unpacking it!?! Oh well, lets get this job over with! Let the unpacking begin!
It's a tedious job, especially making trips back & forth to the house from the bus in the heat. Not only do we have to unpack the bus, but each year when we leave we have to be hurricane prepared . We move all our deck furniture off the deck, now we have to move all those things back to their places then unload the bus. We never give much thought to whether or not Otis misses his Florida home while he's riding around with us. We figure he's with us, he's happy??? But when we get home he runs from room to room as if he's remembering it & he checks out his toy box too! After unloading the bus, we're ALL tired!
When Lennie & I aren't gone during the summer/fall months to escape the Florida heat, we are off enjoying the fun of the RV Club, Florida Discovery Sunshiners group. The club tries to hold a monthly rally with a different member hosting the rally each month. We've only belong to this club almost 3 years but unable to participate until this year.Since we barely got home from our road trip& there was a Discovery Rally I will include it as part of the road trip blog!!!
November 1,2013 Lennie, Otis & I headed over to Tropical Palms RV Park in Kissimmee,Fl.It's not a afar drive for us & in fact Lennie & I have stayed at this RV park before with Bruce & Cathy.
After setting up our site, it's time to go visiting the other member we haven't seen in 6 months! We discover there are 3 new members, well new to us, after our 6 month absence! The rally is hosted by Mark & Jorie Salomon & boy do they have the activities planned. We got our itinerary during the happy Hour registration!
for the Orlando Food Truck Bazaar.
Lennie & I were familiar with this concept as we had gone to such an event while in San Francisco. Here between 10 & 14 Food catering trucks were present. The streets are closed & you can walk from truck to truck or just pick one!!!!
We all came prepared with our lawn chairs & after making our selections sat together enjoying our choice picks!!!
November 2, 2013 Something happened today that no Rally Hosts wants, but can't plan on.....it rained, & rained & rained!!!The events planned for the day after a wonderful Host breakfast was the Alfa Romeo Car show for the guys & a fall craft show for the women. The men decided against the car show in the rain, but us women weathered the weather & attended the craft show!!!
Luckily for the group, the rain stopped in time for the evening events which was dinner at the Blue Max Tavern at Old Town, walking distance from our RV Club.
The Blue Max has been at Old Town a long time, I think they are more geared toward the Tavern requests! Our group of 14 were the only customers in there
The hilight of Old Town
is the rolling car shows they have every Saturday night! This car show has been going on 20 years that we know of, rain or shine the cars roll!
Sunday November 3, 2013- Our day started with a Make Your Own Waffle station! My goodness, these Rally Hosts are "the Hostest with the Mostest!!! Other events for the day included a trip to Pioneer village, lunch(of course!) at Susan's Courtside cafe
I left a comment this morning but it didn't post!!! GRRR!!! I think Otis was happy to be home because he has lots of room to run around. He does look pretty tuckered out tho on that couch LOL!!! Nice album....welcome back to 'blogland'.
