Going to Maggie Valley, N. Carolina!

Friday- October 24, 2014 This morning after our quick breakfast, we are heading out to Maggie Valley, with one stop overnight as it's too long a drive with just one driver behind the wheel.....We start out early.
In fact....the sun hasn't even burnt the morning fog off yet!?!

Can you see where we're going????

OOOOOH I think I see the sun trying to peek out!
""The wheels on the bus go round & round"!!!

We're stopping to "get rid of" our coffee!
It was a pretty view from our Potty break, that bank of clouds just hanging there.....
Time to move on. We're trying to keep up with the big boys!

Hello Tennessee!

It won't be long & we'll be stopping for the night!

Here we are, our one night destination at Parkers Crossroads RV Park in Yuma, Tennessee!

It's just for one night, it doesn't matter what they have to offer!

It is a nice Campgrounds/RV Park & Otis is enjoying his nightly walk! Not sure who's walking who there!?!

There were 8 ducks walking around this lake area, Otis didn't have any interest in them, nor did the ducks have any interest in Otis!

Then.....sunset!
Since we're only here for the night, needless to say we didn't set up anything but the necessities. It won't take long to pull up stakes in the morning!
Saturday-Wednesday October 25th-29th, 2014  Our goal every year when we take off for the season, is to end our road trip with a taste of fall. This year we end our trip with a visit to Maggie Valley, North Carolina to see the fall foliage. Our destination RV park is Creekwood Farms RV Park. We've been here before when in this area. It's a beautiful Campground/RV park. We have a site right on the creek! We take off early from Parker Crossroads.
Seems no matter what time we leave, there's always traffic on the road!
Look close, that's our reflection in the back of this big rig!
Here we go!

Already we can see color changes in the foliage!

We're almost there!

Will we fit through that tunnel!?!

We do!!!
Then we arrive!

We really enjoy this park. We recommended it to our neighbors in Florida & they came here last year & really enjoyed it!
Doesn't take us long to set up

& start relaxing!

This is the Jonathan Creek, named after the son of the original settlers of Maggie Valley.

Even Otis, tho I'm not sure he's relaxed!?!

AAAH this is nice!!!

We are only going to be in Maggie Valley a couple of days so we're going to have to look hard & look fast to see as much as we can. good thing we've been here a couple of times before.
Goofing around in downtown Maggie Valley!

On this day, we had a very early dinner as we wanted to get to Cades Cove in time to see the Elk. The last time we were here, we drove the LONG winding road to Cades Cove but didn't see any Elk, I guess we were too late, they are usually seen right around sunset to early dusk, or early dawn. Tonight we lucked out!

Both sides of the road were lined up with cars of Elk spectators & photographers!

Even Otis wanted to check out the Elk!

I think this guy was a camera ham!

The picture says it all!

While taking a picture of the church, two deer ran across the open grounds, & I thought I spotted something in the background.....

Yep....a wedding!?!

Wild turkey, they better hide, it's getting close to "Turkey Day"!

We're heading back to the RV,

but first we stop to photo

SUNSET!
We want to start on that long narrow road before it gets too dark!

I think we made it to North Carolina for PEAK foliage!

This restaurant was recommended to us SEVERAL years ago by Lennie's cousin, Andy & Barb Gillihan.

They only have breakfast hours, & they always have a waiting line!

Great way to start the day! I had sweet potato pancakes, YUMMMM!

Now......some fall foliage!

I know....I take too many pictures!

AAWWWW!

Pictures don't do it justice, you had to be there!

Easy to see why they're called.....

The

Smokey Mountains!

Today we are going to see  some commercialism, as we drive into the big tourist town of Gatlinburg.

Shops line both sides of the street!

Even Otis got some shopping in at a pet friendly, pet store. Otis must have been window shopping cause he didn't make a purchase!?!

After walking around checking out some of the shops, we decided it was time for a treat!

A donut shop was the answer! It wasn't your average run of the mill donuts, they were some great donuts!!!

I'm not sure who's the cutest!?! We're going to head back to the RV.

There's plenty of scenery along the way!

Back at the RV, time to relax along Jonathan Creek!

Today is our last day in North Carolina. We have been enjoying above average temperatures, it has been perfect weather for our visit here. According to the weather channel, the weather is going to change to the cooler side right after we leave! We may be heading home just in time???
We're off to enjoy our last day here. Not an early start, we got off just in time to enjoy lunch out!
We are going to 12 Bones Smokehouse for lunch, Lennie & I have eaten here before on a previous visit to this area.

From the outside it may not look like much, but when you get your food, oh boy, you'll be glad you ate here! My favorite side is the corn pudding!  YUM!
After lunch we take a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway, with scenery abound......

Just beautiful!!!!

Cool sign to see right before Halloween!

The water was soooo clear I had no problem                                                                                                                  seeing the leaves floating by......

A beautiful drive back to the RV Park.

And back at the RV site, we start packing up tomorrow we leave Creekwood Farms & North Carolina!
