Making sure we didn't miss anything in Memphis!

Friday October 3, 2014 The morning after the storm! I heard Lennie putting the slide back out. It doesn't phase Otis & me, we keep snoozing till Lennie gets back from his morning walk! Because of the storm.....we have a change in the weather, it's a little brisk out there, Otis needs to hurry on his morning potty walk!
Where's the sun????
Lasts night's wind.....

This is a good day to do some FREE laundry! This campground is no stranger to storms & flooding!
If you're not stuck doing laundry.....you can relax & watch the barges go up & down the river.

These barges are always moving on the river, day
& night

After the laundry is done, lunch out of the way, we take a ride into downtown Memphis.

I thought this was a cute overpass that took us                                                                                                     into a historic part of Memphis.

We wound up at a park, it was a huge park, even had a zoo! They also had a Veteran's section, & that's where we wound up!

We saw a crew in the park picking up

large branches & other storm debris.

Time to go home, fix dinner, cause we want to go back out & take pictures of Beale Street at night! Guess who's going with us!?! Yep.....OTIS!
The Memphis M bridge at night!

Cold outside, but still a good crowd on Beale St.

There was no place to park on Beale Street at night, Lennie & Otis kept driving around the block while I was snapping these pictures.
When I took this picture, a man sitting on a bench(in the shadows)offered to take my picture with the Elvis statue. I was a little nervous to go take the picture to begin with because it was too shadowy in there, & Lennie couldn't see me from the street, so when the guy offered to take my picture....for one brief moment I wanted him to, but it was just a fleeting moment, as I started to think...."What if he grabbed my camera & ran off!?!" So I just laughed a little & said, "Thanks anyhow!" & went to the street just in time for Lennie & Otis to pull up to the curb!
Saturday October 4, 2014                   Good Morning !
Sunrise compliments of Lennie!
Today is our last day in this area.....only for this time! We are going back into Memphis, this time no Otis!
First....we went to Elvis Presley Blvd, to the most                                                                     famous gates, probably more famous than the White House!?!

GRACELAND.....we took a tour a few years                                                                                                                              back, so today we passed!
Next.....LUNCH!
Huey's is known for their BURGERS!

I see what I want!

Even Lennie had a burger instead of something healthy, plus....ONION RINGS!

When we came in, the door man said a 4 hour wait, he was just kidding, but we did get the last table!

I am so full I hope I can still walk around Beale Street one last time!

Today on Beale Street....

there was more FOOTBALL

being heard than

Blues!!!

Home of  W.C. Handy

I walked off part of my lunch, time to do some more walking. Back to the Peabody Hotel!
We're going to the duck's home!!!

This is where the famous Peabody Ducks

live when they're not on duty swimming

in the Peabody lounge fountain!

View from the roof of the Peabody

Inside the Peabody....we tried going there twice in one day but the computer was down, therefore the cash registers wouldn't operate!

Out patience paid off & we got ourselves a little treat!

Len...pecan pie
Mine....a RED VELVET cupcake! How am I going to eat that cute little duck!?! It won't be hard!!!!

Otis called......
When we got back to the RV, since we are leaving tomorrow morning we started putting some things away, our lawn furniture, bikes. I forgot the camera in the car & when I went back out to the car, Otis was right behind me, like second skin. He thought if I was going somewhere, he was NOT going to be left behind this time!?!

& obviously he was mad at us for leaving him &                                                                                    messed us the bed while we were gone!

One last sunset.....

The moon shot was taken immediately after I took the sun setting!

Good-bye Tom Sawyer RV Park.....we'll see you soon!
