The last of Illinois!?!

August 24th-September 20th-Our visit to Illinois continued.
September 13, 2015-Sunday-This morning Lennie & I are going to drive into Chicago to the "NEW" Maxwell Street. It's no longer on Maxwell Street but it's still fun to go there. Pretty much all the vendors are Spanish including the food, which is a great thing!!!

We're here, the "NEW" Maxwell Street in Chicago!

                                                           Playing the BLUES........
                                                     EVERYONE looking for a bargain!

                                                            Something for Everyone?????

If you can't find anything you need, you can always buy lunch! Which we did!
The food line, we've been here before, we know he's good, but do we want to wait that long???
I bet they're all good!?!

OH boy.....he's paying for our meal! I got Lengua(Beef TONGUE) Tacos!!!

                                                        Lennie "GETTING DOWN"?????
Good-bye Maxwell Street till another time.......

Good-bye Chicago, see you another time!

The whole time we've been at Hi-Tide during the week we are pretty much the only people there. After Labor Day, kids back in school, vacations pretty much over, not only are we the only ones there during the week, but even the weekends have thinned out. It's kind of nice having the place to ourselves!!!

Lennie is frustrated by ALL the miles we have to drive to go visit family & friends, or just do anything! Myself....I find the country rather calming & I could just spend a whole day taking "country" pictures!

September 15, 2015-TACO TUESDAY in Ottawa
We can't come to this part of Illinois without going to TACO Tuesday with Lee & Lana, Jeff & Katie, Bill & Chris!!!!

September 16, 2015-Wednesday- Our time is running out, with every one's work or school schedule it's hard to see everyone! Tonight we are having a Lou Malnati Pizza picnic with Tammy & the kids!

August 18, 2015-Friday-Today Lennie & I are going into Aurora(more miles!) to visit Aunt Arlene.I want to go to a few more Goodwill Stores, as I'm looking for 'stuff' I can use at our RV Rally in January. The rally has a Pirate theme. Arrrr!Oh yeah.....we're attending a PIRATE Themed RV Rally in January & here's a joke Reese told me:What's a Pirate's favorite vehicle???? An ARRRR-V!!!!!
I did find a few items! Aunt Arlene will be watching for us so we better head over there!

She's always happy to see us & she always ends our visit by telling Lennie what a good little boy he was when she use to babysit him!!!!

Arlene was showing us where bees had gotten into her attic, she had to call an exterminator to have them removed!!

After visiting with Aunt Arlene, we drove back to Hi-Tide to pick up Otis.......then out to Eric & Nancy's.....more country miles!!!
Troy fell asleep out on the porch, when he woke up....I was sitting besides him. He didn't like that, he wanted his Nana!!!!

The chow line at Eric & Nancy's!

September 20, 2015-Sunday- Today is our last day in Illinois for this year's visit! It's going to be a big day too!!! Not only is it Kevin's birthday (Happy Birthday Son!!!!) Ingrid & Allen are holding a family picnic, but Ingrid never holds a family eating event without putting a fun spin on it! Today in an effort to get rid of some of her accumulated "STUFF", she is having a  auction using fun money!!! I can't wait to see how this goes!!!
First Lennie & I pick up Kevin in North Aurora, then Reese, boy......talk about more driving miles!!!!

Kevin was involved in a Charity Golf outing. Somehow he won the trophy???? Was that fair!?! Hmmm!?!
We pick up Reese, who's no longer sporting a cast!?! Reese lives close to Ingrid & Allen so we're on the way!!! We're one of the first to arrive! Jonathan & his little family were already at Grandpa & Grandma's!! Bruce, Cathy, Valentine, Michele, & Julian pulled in right behind us, then James & his girlfriend, soon Chris, Bill, Melissa & Lauren, then Leif. Hail,Hail the gang's all here! (Katie,Jeff, Matt & Ashley were at weddings, not the same weddings! & weren't able to make it to the Picnic/Auction)

Before we ate.....I was previewing the Auction Table!!! I saw some DOG THINGS I could use as prizes at our RV Rally in January as I'm in charge of the Pet Parade at the rally!!!
EVERYTHING was sooooooo good & we had perfect weather!

Oh boy Ingrid is getting  the auction ready!!!We'd all been given $500.00 in play money to bid on the stuff Ingrid desperately wanted to get rid of!!!

Jonathan plays the part of the Auctioneer!
You see this item Danny has.....yes a 5 year old had $500.00 in play money too! That's a dog's treat dispenser. I wanted that item for my pet parade prizes. Danny WANTED it TOO!!! I was bidding against a 5 year old kid who doesn't even have a dog!!! I finally let him have it, I mean I felt like a real meanie bidding against a 5 year old!?! But.....at the end of the auction, I bought that treat dispenser from Danny with my left over play money!!!!

I'm not sure if little Freda had any auction money, but she sure wanted that deer!
Bill "BOUGHT" a real nice clock!
                                                                           No deals here???
After the Auction, best way to end the fun was by having cake! Happy Birthday Kevin, glad Valentin brought cake!!!

It was while Danny was eating his cake that I bargained with him for the dog treat dispenser! I did make sure his mom said it was okay!!!
It was a great picnic/auction & a great day. Everyone had a great time & Ingrid said her auction didn't even put a dent in the stuff in her basement that she wants to get rid of!!!
Do I see another Auction in the future!?!

  1. Looks like a fun time at Ingrid's. What a good idea it was to have an auction with her 'stuff'. I cannot even imagine meal time at Eric and Nancy's. Whew!!!! Did you get a picture with all you girls together? I like the pic of the silo with the greenery. I can't figure out if it is an optical illusion with a bush/tree in the foreground or not. Interesting shot.
