Aug 24th-27, 2014 Wrapping things up in Shipshewana, leaving for Illinois

Sunday-Wednesday August 24th-27, 2014  We are wrapping up our last couple of days here in Shipshewana, Indiana. We are really looking forward to this day, we are going to meet Lennie's Regional Manager from his MAC Tools days, Dale Guibert & his wife Marge. Dale we saw a couple of years ago, but Marge....we haven't seen her in over 20 years! Boy how quickly times goes by!
Sundays in Shipshewana is a lot different than Monday-Saturday! Due to the large Amish & Mennonite population, all shops & restaurants are closed on Sundays. Driving down the streets, you can definitely see a traffic difference!
Since no restaurants are open here in Shipshewana, we are meeting Dale & Marge in Elkhart, Ind a further drive for Dale & Marge than for Lennie & I, but it was Dale's idea!
We met at the Cracker Barrel in Elkhart, a great restaurant choice!(I love all restaurants!)
It was fun seeing Dale & Marge again, & we enjoyed a wonderful Cracker Barrel meal!
I don't even need a menu when we go to Cracker Barrel, I always have chicken & dumplings! After we ate, we sat out on the "front porch" & talked for a couple of hours, well until Otis sent Lennie a text that he had to P!(that's the only letter Otis can text!?!)
It was fun seeing old friends again!
Our Monday started off pretty much the same as every day, till we added a little sightseeing! We went to visit a local Cheese Store!

Through these windows you can actually see the cheese being processed!

There's only one reason we go to shops like this.....they have soooo many samples & Lennie LOVES the samples!
Better than the cheese house.....afternoon delight was an Amish Restaurant! Oh Boy.....bring on the buffet!

We end the buffet with a piece of pie, we didn't need, but wanted so badly!?!
Even Otis benefited from our late lunch at the Amish Restaurant, I brought him home a nice piece of roast beef!
Tuesday morning started with rain.....I didn't want a rainy Tuesday as Tuesday is the big Flea Market day in Shipshewana! We stay at home....not much to do on a rainy day!

We had our lunch & then lucky us.....the rain ended! So we're off to the Flea Market!

We better shop fast, still looking a little gloomy                                                                                                              out there!?!

Sold! If I had a way to haul it home!

The best deal at the Flea Market! Homemade Ice Cream!

So we better get in line for it!

I tell you, we were real shoppers, the only thing I bought was a window cling for the shower door, & all Lennie bought was some bungee cords! We got ALL our shopping done before the clouds started rolling in again. Otis is scared of storms so you  know where we're going....right, home!

Otis is always expecting something when we get back, not this time buddy, nothing till dinner. After dinner you'll go on a nice walk!

If Otis looks a little fuzzy, it's because this was an action shot! He was barking at a passing Amish horse & buggy!

Tonight's Sunset!

aaaahhh!
We're calling it a night, let's head back to the RV!
Our Wednesday starts EARLY!!!!

This is NOT sunset......this is sun RISE !!! Coffee in the To Go Cup & we're off, even Otis doesn't look like he's awake yet!?!

No sooner do we pull out of the Campgrounds & Otis gets his last chance to raise heck with the Amish horses pulling their buggies.......

OH.....I see one coming!

He never reacted to the Amish bicyclist!?!

Good-bye Shipshewana, we are now Illinois bound!

That necessary evil.......TOLL!

Before we make it to Illinois & arrive at the campgrounds, Lennie wants to get the RV washed. Poor Otis, he hates these truck washes!

We're next!

OOOOH  here comes the scary moment!

I wish I was outside with dad....

Yay, done & looking pretty good too!

"Come on dad, let's get outta of here!"

We're gone & soon enough we reach the Illinois state line!

& next we reach our destination of Hide Tide Campgrounds in Leland, Illinois, tho to us it will always be Somonauk. The park is closer to Somonauk than Leland!?!
When we arrived at Hi-Tide, we had a slight problem! Our site, which we had already reserved, but the person on our site previously, had mechanical problems & hadn't left yet! We had to wait out in the parking lot for over 2 hours waiting for our site to be vacated!?! Finally Chris, the owner of Hi-Tide, towed the RV off "our" site!!!
waiting in the parking lot.....

All this traveling, going from place to place can sure wear a body out! Wake me when it's time to eat!
& our first meal.....is on the grill!

To be continued.........
