August 27 -September 26, 2014 During this time we are staying at Hi-Tide Campgrounds in Somonauk (really Leland), Illinois. We will be BUSY this whole month visiting family & friends. There won't be daily activities, unfortunately everyone is still working & kids are in school! During this time I will only be posting when we do something fun & interesting with our family & friends!!!
First on my agenda was laundry. I had sooooo much laundry to do we took it into town (Sandwich). The laundromat is right behind the trailer court where my brother Leif lives. After the grueling task of doing laundry we went to visit Leif & wound up walking to dinner! A Chinese Buffet. He lives right next door to a Chinese buffet! I'd be in big trouble!!!! Unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me, I say unfortunately cause you should see Leif fill a plate!!! I left my purse in our car so I didn't even have my cell phone camera. I really missed a Kodak moment!
Labor Day weekend-We had Kevin & Reese at the campground for a visit. Chris Flippen, the owner, had a lot of activities going on during the Labor Day weekend. We had some of our own activities too!!!
Good thing it was such a worthy cause!
Time for Marshmallows! |
It was a fun weekend with Kevin & Reese. We took them home Monday after we put burgers on the grill for a late lunch. We had to get Kevin home in time to mow his yard!
Check out his LAND LORD'S LAWNMOWER!?! Be careful with that lawnmower Kevin, that's an accident just waiting to happen!!?!
Tuesday September 2, 2014 Yesterday Leif had to start his preparation for a colonoscopy, that's always fun! but his reward will be, tonight we're going out for TACO TUESDAY with Lee & Lana at the Ottawa Golf Club. Lana for sure, Lee being a truck driver hopes to be home in time.....
Today we're going to make our hardest visit, Jacob's grave site in West Chicago. It's a LONG drive from Somonauk to West Chicago. There's a beautiful park next to the cemetery, we figure no one will be there so we can have a quiet lunch before going to the grave site.....
During our lunch, Leif called. Seems he had a reaction to the anesthesia during his procedure causing his heart rate to heighten & they were admitting him to the hospital overnight just for precautionary measures. No Taco Tuesday for Leif, but would I go check in on Sophie, his dog.....SURE!!!!
As it turned out.....Lee wasn't going to get home in time to join us in Taco Tuesday, Leif in the hospital, just the 3 of us now.....we chose a different restaurant, still after Mexican food, instead of driving to Ottawa, Lana told us of a restaurant in Plano/Sandwich which distance really worked better for us since we had to pick Sophie up for a sleepover! When we picked Lana up, we learned Lee & Lana were now "Empty Nesters"! Matt moved out earlier this summer & Katie had moved out just the day before! I think Lana was really feeling the loss. Oh wait.....they're not quite empty nesters, they still have their 2 year old toddler.....CLYDE!
Okay Clyde, time to go inside & wait for dad, we're going to go chow down!
We leave the restaurant just in time for sunset in the country!
We snag Sophie on the way home, drop Lana off, Lee had made it home, we visit a little bit, then head back to the Campgrounds so Otis & Sophie can have their little sleepover!?!
Otis is NOT a happy camper! HE didn't invite Sophie over for a sleepover & Otis does not like sharing, HE wants ALL the attention! Might be a long night!?!
Wednesday September 3, 2014 Leif had a stress test this morning. He will need a ride home from the hospital, Mercy Center in Aurora. Lennie & I had some apartment business errands to run, which also included a quick stop at Hardees! We drop Sophie off at Leif's place not wanting BOTH dogs waiting in the car during errands....then head to Aurora thinking Leif must be close to being released. NO SUCH LUCK. He was still in his hospital garb, still had tubes for blood withdrawal & the heart monitor was still attached. He said he was just waiting for the Dr to release him. You know Dr's are never in a hurry, heck he was making his rounds, he probably wouldn't see the Dr till who knows when!?! I sat up visiting with Leif for a while, Lennie & Otis out in the parking lot.....I told Leif that Lennie & I would go for a drive, & call me if he got released. We drove to the Batavia Westside Cemetery
We had just walked away from Jon's grave site when Lennie saw a movement along the fence at the back of the cemetery. Imagine our surprise when we saw this guy walking among the Headstones!?!
Leif was released shortly after we returned back to the hospital, I know he was glad to get out, & Sophie was real glad her daddy was back home. I think Otis was too, he didn't want another sleepover!?!
