This morning we're heading to Freightliner in Gaffney, SC for 2 reasons! Freightliner only does repairs to anything on the chassis but.....when talking to the Service Manager yesterday, he did tell Lennie they have a repair man that comes to the sites to do other repair jobs. Lennie talked to this guy who did indeed do slide repairs soooooo here's hoping we'll get lucky!
When we leave this morning, we're not leaving the same way we came in, we don't want to be covered in dust again! I will follow Lennie out far enough behind that I'm not eating his dust!
There goes Len!
Here I go!
Following behind at a safe distance at a Slower than School Zone speed!
There he is waiting for me! Ready for hook up!
While Lennie connects the car I take a couple of pictures!
I read on a sign that this was a site of a battle during the Civil War
The battle at Half Swamp
We better get going!
It was a long drive to Gaffney!
I was glad to finally see a sign letting me know we were approaching our destination!
This area is known for their peaches, even the water tower is a PEACH! Abbott's Peach Farm is the biggie here!
We arrive at Freightliner exactly at noon! Lennie's happy, it's time to eat! Freightliner's "Campground" so to speak, is just a courtesy lot for people waiting for service. It comes with ELECTRIC & electric only!
Lennie called the guy who's going to do our slide adjustment. His name is Walt. I thought yesterday Lennie said the guys name was Curt??? So either the guy changed his name or I didn't hear Lennie right, who cares as long as he can fix the slide! He said he'd be here at 1:00pm. That works out just great, we can eat lunch & be ready for Walt or Curt!?!
He arrives promptly & gets to it immediately!
Not sure is Lennie is helping or "Supervising"!?!
About an hour later the job is done. He charged $60.00 we felt a fair price! He was a decent guy, he didn't charge his normal service call charge, as he didn't have to go out of his way to work on our problem, his next service call was just up the road from Freightliner!I hope tomorrow's repair goes as smoothly as today's did!?!
Friday May 13, 2016- At Freightliner, there are 6 mechanics,6 bays, therefore there are 6 definite appointments in a day. You can come in as a standby. Every one's appointment is at 8:00am! I'm usually still in my pjs at 8:00am, unless we have an early travel day! This morning at 8:00am we were ready & waiting for our mechanic! A few more coaches came in yesterday afternoon, the parking lot was growing!
While I took Otis out to potty, the mechanics came out, all at the same time, & met with their perspective clients! Lennie had notes on what to tell our chosen mechanics about the issues on hand! Then.....the only thing the owners can do is go the the service waiting room & wait, oh....& hope their repair job isn't too costly!!! Before we go into the waiting room, we first go to our favorite Gas Station with a bakery, Sunny's Donuts, to get a donut to go with our coffee! Now we can go back to Freightliner!
Why am I eating that.....I don't need a donut & for tomorrow's cup of coffee I got myself a PEACH Fritter!
The waiting room is pet friendly, we will go inside, we just didn't want to go inside with our donuts!
We start our wait, there are a few other owners in here too. The mechanic never starts the job till he comes out & tells you exactly what he found then you give him the go ahead to start the job, or not! After awhile our mechanic came out....I was working on my blog, Freightliner has the BEST wifi!!!!I could hear the guy talking to Lennie but I don't understand mechanical lingo! I did hear something about shocks & I did hear Lennie say "Go ahead & replace them". Then Len told me it was going to be awhile so let's go take a drive.
The drive included lunch! A BBQ Restaurant, what else here in the south!?! I was thinking it might be too warm for Otis out here in the sun.....
When Lennie went in to order, he was told the side deck was Pet Friendly!!!
We got Otis out of the sun, the waitress brought him water, for some reason he didn't want any bites of our BBQ???? Good I really didn't want to share with him!!!!
After lunch we drove to a Goodwill, I found ONE blue jean skirt for future purse making!!!there wasn't too much we could do with Otis, too warm to leave him in the car, we may as well go back to Freightliner's waiting room, it's A/C! A nice surprise when we pulled back in we could see our RV back in it's spot! Yay it's done!!! Now the part everyone dreads.....paying the bill! Before we left home, Lennie already had an estimated price idea of what this repair was going to cost. When he came out of the office he told me the bill was $100.00 cheaper than what he was expecting, so I guess that's a good thing???
The "campground" has really emptied out! Tomorrow's destination is not too far away, but no since leaving now, after all it's FREE camping at Freightliner as long as you're here for a repair job!
This guy, his wife & dog, pulled into Freightliner right after us. Lennie & him became Waiting Room Buddies, no surprise to me, as Lennie knows no stranger! Lennie even told him about Sunny's donuts & they went & got some!!!Their repair job got done about the same time as ours did. He didn't spend another night as his home base is in Charleston. I hope we are done having issues, for this trip anyhow! I know because our coach is older, we're bound to have some issues, long as they're minor it'll be okay! Lennie does stay on top of any repairs with the coach because he says this is our FIRST & Last motor home!!!!
We'll see what tomorrow brings.........
