May 10 -11, 2016 Charleston, SC

Tuesday May 10, 2016-Sightseeing in Charleston!
Not only is this County Park a nice park, it has real nice amenities too! When we checked in, Lennie paid for a shuttle bus ride to downtown Charleston. We could have driven our car & parked but.....we have our bikes on the back of the car & last year while in Boston we discovered some parking lots won't let you in with bikes on the back of your car????? So......after coffee & a quick bowl of oatmeal, we headed down to the office to catch our shuttle bus!
This lady, & her husband on our return trip, are from West Virginia, but during the summer they are Camp Hosts at the James Island County Park. they love the park & they love camp hosting!
It was a short jaunt from the park to the Visitors Center in Charleston. Our shuttle bus driver explained to us the FREE trolley rides. With all that information we were ready to enjoy our day!

Our first trolley ride was fine, later in the day instead of a trolley ride it was more like riding in a PACKED Sardine Can!!!

We've been to Charleston before, more than once, it's one of those places that's worth repeating! The last time we were here about 10 years or so, was Memorial weekend & let me tell you it was HOT! It was soooooo hot that the carriage ride we were on, the driver asked if anyone on board wanted to stop at the lemonade stop!?! We all wanted a nice cold lemonade!!!
Can't go to Charleston without visiting the Straw Market! The basket weavers do beautiful work!

No horse drawn ride for us this visit, but lots of visitors were enjoying their ride. Today our weather was enjoyable unlike that day 10 years ago!
                                                 Rainbow Row, definitely postcard worthy!

A walk down by the battery we saw this Spaniel enjoying a cool off in the water. His owner kept throwing a stick in the water, & the dog couldn't wait to go after it. If this was a video instead of a still picture, you would see the dog's tail going 240! It was like a little propeller!!!

The cobblestone  streets add to the quaintness of this Historic old town!
The Pineapple, a symbol of Southern Hospitality!

                                                                 Kids having fun!!!!

Oh to be a kid again.....or maybe not!?!
This is how adults cool off!
                                                            Back at the Campgrounds!
Not sure Otis was happy to see us or not? But he was happy to go on another walk throughout the park!
While walking we spotted this "HAPPY CAMPER" Definitely a DOGS LIFE!!!!
Lennie & Otis taking a little break outside the store while I went inside the store....I saw a little Turtle light that I thought I couldn't live without & we're leaving tomorrow so I better buy it now!!!
Tomorrow we are only going 90 miles down the road to Remini,SC to Elliot's Landing a family owned campgrounds. I'm anxious to see what tomorrow brings!

Wednesday May 11, 2016-The purpose of our stay at Elliot's Landing is, we planned to go visit Brett & Nicole & meet their 2 kids! We are on our way to Freighliner in Gaffney, SC for some preventive maintenance work & Elliot's Landing is close to Brett & Nicole in Sumpter, SC & not out of our way. I'm looking forward to meeting the kids & actually I haven't seen Brett since before the Stevens were stationed in Spain! That's been awhile!!!
As we were approaching Elliot's Landing we kept seeing signs that read ROAD CLOSED, yet we knew the RV park was out there somewhere???

Look at this entrance! Is that a cool old barn in the background!?! The drive into the Campground was a little over a mile in distance, gravel & pure dust!
This is the view you see as you check in at the owners home/store!

Otis looking for Lennie. Otis gets his patience from Lennie!!!
At the last park, when we left I heard "something" buzzing around inside the coach? While waiting for Len to register us, the bug came flying about! Otis is NOT real brave when it comes to flying bugs! He gets that from me. He thought he better take cover while I tried to get rid of the bug!!!
Our car was sooooooooo dusty from the drive in first thing Lennie did was spray it off. The owner, a sweet old woman told Lennie that the wind would blow the dust off, Lennie told her, "Maybe the wind of a hurricane!"

This campground, is Passport America, it only cost us $15.00 to spend the night here! While Lennie was cleaning up the car & RV, I took the camera & Otis & went walking.
Pretty cool, looks like we might be in the Louisiana Byous!?!

The main purpose of this Campground is FISHING! There were no amenities for any family type vacation unless you were here to fish!
Some people been fishing in strange places???
After my photo shoot I came back to the RV only to discover Lennie having PROBLEMS???? He went to put the slide out & it wouldn't GO OUT!?! It wanted to go out, but Lennie could tell the top of the slide was hung up on a piece of trim???? This was really frustrating because after our April Rally, we had our slide adjusted at a RV shop in Titusville, Fl???
Oh Boy......Lennie has a collection of tools & stuff out. He's going to tackle the RV slide. You know an RV is already COZY, but when the slide won't go out, it goes from COZY to CRAMPED real quick!
While Lennie tackles the slide, Otis & I know the best thing for us to do is.....STAY OUT OF HIS WAY...........
& at the same time be prepared to hand him a tool, screws or whatever he asks for. During the repair job, Brett called & unfortunately due to complications regarding today's appointments & his work schedule,he had to cancel our get together for tonight.! A big disappointment, but maybe for the better as Lennie was still up to his elbows in grease & frustration. It was over a 2 hour job, but finally he got the slide loose from the trim piece. He did all this without any PROFANITY!!! We had a little practice run, putting the slide out, bringing it in, putting it out, bringing it in! He decided it was good enough till someone "Official" could look at it! By now it was 6:30pm we had a quick dinner.
Fixing the RV slide was really rough on Otis!!!
After that quick dinner we took a walk down to the fishing pier  just in time to catch a beautiful setting sun!

The perfect ending to a frustrating day!!!!
