2015 A new season....a new adventure!

May 2015 Here we go, another travel season has started. I hate the preparation, I just want to get in the bus & go! This year it seems like we had a lot of minor RV repairs to make. We keep reminding ourselves it is a 2001 unit, things are bound to go wrong....After the repairs are finally taken care of Lennie washes the outside of the coach from top to bottom. The next day he waxed the outside of the coach & I was inside cleaning everything. Otis.....I guess he was supervising? Everyone has a job! Our scheduled date to leave is Monday May 11, 2015.
We plan to combine a Mother's Day/Birthday get together with Len's mom as we will be on the road for her birthday. We went to Bonefish Grill for this event. Sunday for Mother's Day we went to church with her....then home to finish packing the coach! Tomorrow....we take off!

May 11, 2015   Monday....today's the day, & we're ready to go! we're not leaving at the crack of dawn like we usually do! It was about 9:30 am when we left the house.
The morning we leave, the last thing we do is put the cold foods in the refrigerator. Otis has seen soooo much back & forth activity he's never sure if it's his time to go or not so he just waits patiently in his "STAY" spot!
We left Mrs. Dove, our newest tenant
in charge of "everything"! She has to earn her keep somehow!
I think we're in good hands!
And so we're off!!!
Otis has found his comfort zone, on top of my lap, where he will ride for the duration of the trip!!!!
Congestion trying to get through Jacksonville, this slowed us down a bit...
Our first stop for the night is in Ashburn, Georgia. Oh yeah, Ashburn's claim to fame is....Home of the FIRE ANT Festival!!! Sorry I missed that, I bet it was a real bite! We called a RV park that was  Passport America, this is a good deal for us as Passport America members. the cost for one night was only $8.50!!! We pulled into it.....it was a hotel/RV Park. It looked deserted, it had the perfect setting for one of those cheap scary movies. Lennie paid, the guy said PICK ANY SPOT! Heck we were the only ones there & Lennie still couldn't pick a suitable spot! I was glad when Len told me he was going to tell the guy we were going to drive on! I should have taken at least one picture while Otis & I waited! He gave us our money back, & we eased on down the road to another RV park we have stayed at before!
We're still only one of 3 RVers here!
But for one night it's fine, much better than the first park!
After our dinner,we take Otis for his much loved evening walk
& I snap my first sunset.....with the McDonald Arches in the back ground!!!

May 12, 2015  Tuesday- On the road again!
 Lennie's ready
Otis is definitely ready!
the road is calling....
Lennie always plans our morning departure to beat Atlanta's nightmare traffic, & soon enough we see Atlanta's skyline & we beat the traffic!!!
So we continue our drive forward with Otis at the helm....
The scenery is starting to change!
Now in Tennessee!
Nashville's skyline!
Nashville's traffic!
We soon came to the reason for the traffic back up!

It was a grass fire caused by a truck having a blow out.....

our second night on the road.

May 13, 2015  Wednesday- Today we'll reach Illinois, but like Florida....it's a long state to drive through.....
Where is everyone? Oh yeah....some people still work!?!
Over that bridge, we leave Kentucky behind & meet Illinois!
Where we will stop in Vienna.
We stop here at the Park/Welcome Center to disconnect the car. We always visit the graves of Lennie's grandparents when in Vienna & believe you me....the way in & out of the cemetery is not meant for any RV!
Lennie loves this cemetery, not just because his grandparents are buried here...
He just loves the country atmosphere.
It is pretty & soooo peaceful! Too bad he didn't have a plot here....
We drive back to the park & while Lennie connects the car back up to the RV I make our lunch. We are heading for our last one night stand on the road & that is Archway RV Park in Mt Vernon, Illinois.
It is a nice park, perfect for one night!

May 14, 2015 Thursday- Today we will reach our destination, in just a matter of hours. As you see, the co-pilot is ready to roll!
Ahhhh a familiar road sign!
getting closer!

going over the Abraham Lincoln Bridge(the Ohio River flows under it!?!)

Junction 34 & 23! We made it!

Lennie checks in while Otis & I wait!
This is our 5th season of staying here at Hi-Tide..

This is the only spot we fit on.
Each year we call the owner, Chris Flippin early enough that he can hold this spot for us!

We're  all set up now!
Our stay here is from May 14th-June 14th. While we are here we will be trying to visit family & friends, which isn't always easy as we're retired....they still work! Blog Fans....don't look for daily postings during our visit here, I will post important & fun things we do while we're here, but sometimes Lennie, Otis & I are just alone at the campgrounds!

                                         STAY TUNED!!!!!!
