Yay Taco Tuesday!!! ~ Man's Best Friend!

May 26, 2015 Tuesday-Yesterday, Memorial Monday, I did a foolish thing! I got on the scale & my scale reflected my laziness from lack of walking!?! But this crazy Illinois too wet spring, makes it soooo easy to stay in bed instead of hitting the road! I forced myself to get up & get hoofing it! The wind was really blowing & my same walking routine seemed harder & longer today. I don't know if it was the wind or the fact I hadn't walked in a week!?!
Today we went to Walmart just for a few things, actually sometimes I just like looking around in stores!?! Actually we use Walmart as our ATM & I needed to get some money to put in Trinity's graduation card, & the chance to look around!!!
The afternoon skies don't look so good! That causes some worry for us as we are going to Ottawa for Taco Tuesday, leaving Otis home in the RV....storms make him nervous! Sure enough we got a good down pour after returning from Walmart. Good maybe that's it for the night? We take our showers & prepare to leave for Taco Tuesday. Otis is not happy we're leaving!
You'll be okay!

Lennie & I leave a little early for Ottawa as there's a Goodwill store up there we like to poke around in. We're meeting Lana & Katie (Lee is working late) Chris, Bill & Adam. After poking around at the Goodwill, it's time to join the crew! The sky looks TERRIBLE!!!!
                 It's not a fancy place....
but it's fun to go there for Tacos!!!
It's the golf course eatery & I guess they serve other food on other nights, but all we've ever gone to is TACO TUESDAY!!!!
Look how happy Lana is over her Tacos!!!
                           Chris looks pretty happy too!
Adam brought his friend, Catherine, they got Taco Salads

We enjoyed our dinner (poor Lee...) & conversation. Katie is going to be Maid of Honor in her best friend of 10 years,(Pam) wedding in 11 days.  Katie was telling us wedding details, showing us pictures of Pam's dress, & the dress Katie is wearing. It's going to be a beautiful wedding!!!
We ate our fill...time to go!
"Mom, when are we going shopping so you can get a dress for Pam's wedding???"

See ya later ladies!
We head our separate ways, & yet we're all going in the same general direction! Lennie wanted to stop at a McDonalds in Ottawa & bring Otis a McDoubles, but....believe it or not, he didn't stop!?! He decided it'll be a good enough treat for Otis at home if I heated up a hot dog for him! That dog is sooooooo spoiled. I should try switching his treats to frozen green beans see how he'd like that!?!
May 27, 2015- Wednesday- Hey....look at me, I'm up walking again!?! this could get to be a habit!!!
We're usually a little later at arriving in Illinois than we are this year. Hi-Tide is surrounded by farmers corn fields & it was funny to see all the fields empty of the corn stalks. the farm field across from the campgrounds, you could barely see the corn stalk shoots. But now after 2 weeks & almost DAILY rain....you can see definite corn rows!!!
I'm barely into my walk when who do I see!?!
Lennie always walks first, then repeats the same distance on his bike. He's such a show-off!
I'm on my own now....here's my road!
Today I brought my camera, because the first day I walked(this trip here) I saw a coyote run from one side of the field to the other side. I almost turned around & went back to the campgrounds.I don't necessarily want to see another coyote, but it is a scenic walk in the country I might see something else interesting. Soon enough I do!!!
It's Len on his way back, but he's not alone.....he has a friend!!!
OOOH...I know that dog, he belongs to another farmer down the road! He use to follow me last year when I was walking this same route. The dog is not just Len's friend....he's ANY ONE'S friend!!! As soon
as the dog sees me....he leaves Lennie & continues his walk with me!
Now the dog is "My Friend"!
I have reached the next part of my morning walk....
I swear county miles are longer than city miles!
School is still in session here as the kids had Snow & Cold days to make up!
Here's where my friend,
the way too friendly lab, lives. But does he go home???? Nooooo he keeps following me to my turn around point!

I'm heading back & he's still with me!
This is the same creek that runs behind the campgrounds. Next stop is "my friend's" house but he keeps right on trucking with me!!! Now I'm back to the road Hi-Tide is on & yes.....my friend is still with me!
Lucky for me or the dog.....the next farm house another dog comes out to greet "my friend"! With that the two dogs go running together to explore the fields & I make it back to Hi-Tide....alone!

After our coffee we plan to leave for West Chicago. Sadly today Jacob should have turned 20. Lennie & I are heading up to the cemetery to leave some flowers. We're also taking "part" of a picnic, as there's a nice park next to the cemetery & it's a loooong drive from Leland to West Chicago. As we head out, we're already concerned about the weather. We stopped to get flowers & while I was standing in line paying, the biggest downpour took place......(does this mean the picnic's off?)
I said we only packed part of a picnic....that's because we stopped at Portillos to get the rest of the picnic! With the weather daring us to drive all the way to West Chicago, we stopped in Aurora at Phillips Park! Take that you rain clouds....we fooled you!

Our first picnic!

We had Italian Beefs!
There must have been an end of school Field Trip going on here, there was a lot of kids!

The skies look pretty nice right now, but as soon as we finish our picnic lunch we continue on our way to West Chicago before the weather changes yet again!
We're here now & there's really nothing to say.....this is not the way to be celebrating his birthday.....

On our way back to Hi-Tide, we stop in North Aurora at the bike/walking trail! We have Otis with us & he needs a little walk!

This is the same Fox River I learned to swim in,at age 13! Not this point, tho, the dam at the Batavia end. Definitely had no business being there!

I don't know if this was the mother or the father duck, but they were definitely the PROTECTOR duck. As I walked close to get a picture....the duck came toward me hissing!!! Okay duck....I don't need another picture!
I guess we may as well go home! Lennie wants spaghetti for dinner, hmmmmm, I'm still pretty full from our lunch!?!

Back at Hi-Tide, here's Chris Flippin, the owner, always busy doing some putzing around the campgrounds!
his hobby....

He doesn't make these characters to sell, just for fun. He said if he made them to sell, then it would go from FUN.....to a JOB!!!!
Some of his toys.....

Going in now....I'm making spaghetti for dinner!

  1. I love that pic of you girls together. Hi Chris and Lana!! Your campground owner sure is talented. I love his artwork. That's a pretty dog. I like the way his ears are blowing in the wind while he is running with Lennie. Cute little geese too. But I know the protective parents can be quite nasty...best to stay clear of them.
