August 2, 2013 Last day in Houghton, Michigan

Today is our last day here at the Houghton City RV Park & Houghton, Michigan. Soooooo this is the day as always when ready to leave we start preparations. But this morning instead of a usual quick breakfast & start our routine....we had a "real" breakfast! Yesterday while out sightseeing, on the way home we stopped at a big fruit stand. We got a nice assortment of fruit including blueberries. Ever since we made that purchase all Lennie talked about was having blueberry pancakes, & that's how we started this morning!
After the pancakes, the dishes done the work preparation began! It's not really work, just part of RVing!
One of the nice things about this park being a city park, it had a real nice walking path you could walk all the way to "Downtown" Houghton, which is a historic town from the copper mining days, a real boom town in it's day.Portage Lake contributed to Houghton's successful boom time. The waterfront's access to shipping also attracted industry, most of which was connected to copper mining. We walked along Portage Lake to downtown Houghton!
There wasn't a lot going on in town, but it was a nice walk for all of us! When we got back to the RV Park, I saw a woman & her young son picking "MY RED RASPBERRIES" they weren't even ripe for the picking yet??? I hope they get a bellyache!?!
I guess that walk was too much for Lennie & Otis, they were both napping before dinner!
I hope they can wake up in time for dinner! (They Do!) & after dinner our last walk around Portage Lake & our last sunsets!
They had some NICE sunsets over Portage Lake that's for sure!
A nice way to end the evening.....

Tomorrow we leave Houghton, but not Michigan or the UP yet.....
