I don't think people live in Michigan because of the weather! It's beautiful country but the weather sure can be iffy! Last night when we walked Otis, the "real campers" were wrapped up in their blankets sitting around their roaring fires. The wind off Lake Superior is more than brisk! Us "other" campers were inside their coaches with their little electric heaters going!!!
This morning I dressed for yesterday's weather, & after our regular morning routine, when taking Otis out, I realized the wind was not blowing like yesterday, I still brought my hooded sweatshirt along just in case.We have just a short day of waterfall viewing planned mainly because during research Lennie read that NO DOGS were allowed on trails to the waterfalls.
Boo-Hoo for Otis. But....it is cool enough if the falls are close we can leave Otis in the car & that's exactly what we do when we reach our first falls!
It's a real nice path, smooth sailing all the way no pot holes, nothing strenuous & then.....I knew it was too good to be true!
The Miner Falls have a vertical drop of about 50 feet!
Back on the path....Otis awaits!
Next we were going to view Au Sable Light House but....first it was a 12 mile drive before the 1.5 mile walk to the lighthouse & back....No dogs allowed so we skipped that one & went on to.........
Miner's Castle where pets were permitted! Erosion over long periods of time have created the interesting rock formation that gives this place its name. Not to mention the breath taking overlooks of Lake Superior & Grand Isle. As I was clicking this picture a Park Ranger was pointing out to another group, a Bald Eagle that had just landed in a tree,
Our next stop is our most important spot!!!
After our picnic we went on a nice drive just to enjoy the scenery. We wound up in the little town of Grand Marais! Does that name sound familiar!?! We were in the same town in Minnesota! big difference tho! Minnesota's Grand Marais had a real tourist little town going on! Michigan's Grand Marais, well....not so much! They had a nice little beach area, & they had....
Pickle Barrel!Which was once a real beach home, designed after a Chicago Tribune comic strip, the Teenie Weenies, which I am not familiar with???? We took turns going in the Pickle Barrel (OTIS) it even had an upstairs big enough for 2 twin beds a small dresser, it was really cute, but I can't imagine living in it!?!
We head back to the RV Park, there's another waterfall,Wagner Falls, on the way back to the RV Park.
We had a nice dinner, pineapple chicken, & after dinner Otis gets his nightly walk!
Tonight's sunset was taken from another site
I can't wait for tomorrow's waterfalls & tomorrow's sunset!!!!
That's a pretty walk thru the woods and the falls are wonderful as usual. That magenta top looks very pretty on you. Len is getting thin! Wish I could say the same!!!!
