June 25th-June27, 2014- Old Friends-Jersey Boys!-Pike Peak Hill Climb event

Wednesday June 25,2014 This day starts out just like every other day!!!But it's going to change! After Len's walk, breakfast, Otis' potty walk, showers....Lennie, Otis & I head into town!
We're going into Colorado Springs where I am going to meet up with an old friend, Janis, that I have known since KINDERGARTEN!!! Janis has been living in Colorado Springs for 10 years. But before heading to her apartment, first we have to take our blow out tire to any TIRE STORE! Since we're not from here.....we pull into the first shop we see, which is Tire World! Lennie drops the tire off, & they tell him to come back in about an hour. Now on to Janis' apartment, she should be home from work by now! We pull into the apartment complex & Len's cell phone rings. It's the tire store calling to tell him the tire is RUINED!!!! The only solution is to buy another tire ARRRRR $$$$$$ Janis is home & our plans are to meet Lennie later for PIZZA! Now that's a plan! Janis & I go back inside & hours of reminiscing begin!  We then went for a ride & she showed me around her area a little bit. Soon it was time to go meet Lennie at the pizza place. No waiting, Lennie was already there. Poor Otis....this round of the trip he didn't come, but was left on Guard Duty back at the RV!
We went to Luigi's, an Italian Restaurant that also served Pizza!
It was good pizza & good company!

On the way home we did NOT stop at McDonald's for "Mr McSpoiled"! He didn't need one, Lennie had already given Otis an Arby's after the tire was fixed!
Right up until bedtime, we could still hear helicopters, some kind of maneuvers were still going on at Fort Carson. Sometime during the night, when Otis thought the time was right.....he crept into our bed! I'm sure the helicopter noise was scaring him, or maybe HE thought WE were scared & he came back there to protect us!?!
Thursday June 26,2014 Another day in beautiful Colorado! Me & Otis are having our quality time back in the bed, Lennie is out on his walk! When Lennie gets in, he starts the coffee.Come on Otis, time to get up & have breakfast!  Slow start to the day from breakfast right through to lunch time. After lunch, an entirely different story! We take Otis for a walk, & then....Otis is staying home by himself, while we go to the movies! We are going to go see JERSEY BOYS!!!!
First stop the movie house?????NOOOOO first stop CULVER'S
We have a Buy One~Get One coupon for a sundae so we're having a treat before the movie!
Yummy, Black cherry chocolate chip sundaes!
We savor the flavor we have a while before the show starts! When we leave Culver's with some time to spare.....
I walk around in a couple of stores, Michael's  & Bed Bath & Beyond, Lennie heads straight to Home Depot!<-BORING!!!
Finally it's SHOW TIME!!!!
Lennie & I always rate the Coming Attractions previews. We don't go to the movie house that often, but we did see a couple of previews that interested us.We chose an afternoon showing for Otis' sake!?! The theater wasn't crowed, but everyone that was there, was "OUR AGE"!!!! It was mostly women in attendance, with a few men present. It was great music & great old cars!!! I hated when the movie ended!
Back at the RV....guess who's happy to see us!?!
Yep....Otis!!!

Those late afternoon sundaes kind of ruined our appetite for dinner. We decided just to have a bowl of soup & a salad. that's tough on Otis, he looks forward to "People Food" left overs!
Fort Carson was quiet tonight! No sounds of Military maneuvers going on, we got a good night's sleep cause Otis stayed in his bed all night long!!!!

June 22nd-June24, 2014 - Experimental dinner-Down Day-Cave of the Winds

Sunday June 22,2014 Today starts out like all our days, Lennie out on his walk, me & Otis....

Noooooo, we didn't get caught in bed, this is part of our morning routine!
There's no coffee brewing this Sunday morning, because coffee & sweet rolls are offered to all Campers at the office! Of course Lennie & I walked down there! On our walk back to our RV, I saw 3 deer & one of them stopped at another neighboring RV for a drink of water, from the DOG BOWL!

Today we have nothing planned, this relaxing is getting addictive! For dinner tonight we are having an experiment!!! Lennie read a recipe on a travel blog, How to cook a whole chicken....NO PEEKING!!!! On grocery day we bought a 6lb whole chicken. Today we are cooking it! It's got to be on the grill 90 minutes! That seems like a long time for a chicken??? So we spray the chicken with olive oil & season it up....
Going to the grill!

NO PEEKING now for 90 minutes!
I go inside to prepare the sweet potatoes & carrots....

The chicken is done, hope it's a success, we don't have a backup dinner planned!?!
SUCCESS!!!!  That chicken was soooooooo juicy & tender! We'll definitely do that again!
For dessert we had Banana Cream Pie, low-fat but still yummy, & a great way to end the evening........!

June 19th-June 21,2014 - Scenic Picnic-More Loafing !-Ice Cream Again!

Thursday June 19,2014 Last night during TV time, Lennie was also doing his research homework! Today we are going to Spinney Mountain Park for our picnic! This is a state park not a problem...we have our Colorado State Park pass! Everyday starts the same, Lennie goes for his walk, me & Otis sack out in the bedroom till Len returns then COFFEE & breakfast!!! Today we pack that picnic lunch & we're ready to go! That includes Otis too!
For as long as we've had Otis(7 yrs now) any time we go anywhere in our car or RV, Otis rides on my lap! Yesterday I told Len, next drive....Otis is going to ride like a dog!!!!
Don't feel too sorry for Otis, he has the whole back end of the car, with a comforter, plus a towel. I even brought a dog toy for him!!! He pouted for awhile, but I think he actually enjoyed that whole back end to himself!?!
It was quite the scenic drive to Spinney Mountain Park!

On the way to Spinney Mountain, we had to go through the town of Lake George. The day we left Santa Fe & drove over to Colorado Springs, was when that terrible wind gust hit our slide topper. That was the same day a tornado hit the Lake George RV Park & did damage.....

                                                                        So sad.....

a lot of damage. There were cabins at the same RV Park & they were undamaged!!!
At the corner of the road was the Lake George Bible Church. I know a lot of prayers were said that day, & a lot of prayers were answered.....only minor injuries!
Continuing on to the park.....

The scenery is just beautiful, in front of us......
& behind us!

I see the Ranger Station! We're at the park!!!
This might be the #1 scenic picnic spot this year!!!

There's still a lot of snow on those mountains!!!
The drive leaving the park was quite
interesting too!
It's open range out here, so the cattle just wander where ever they want!

that goes for the horses too!
Today was really a scenic drive!!!

                                                        A future picnic spot....maybe!?!

Truly America the Beautiful!

Yesterday I kept hearing the Sonic commercial about today celebrating 1/2 price shakes ALL DAY LONG in honor of the start of the summer season! Imagine my surprise when we actually pulled into a Sonic!!!

I had Strawberry banana, Len had coconut cream pie! There was too many flavor choices!

A TRUE sign of summer!!!!

We got back to the RV in time  for some good ole loafing before the start of dinner!
Friday June 20,2014 I don't want to think of myself as a lazy person, but the time we're spending at Mountaindale RV Park is so enjoyable especially the days we do NOTHING!!!! That what today is, after our regular morning routine, we did go into "the Springs" for just a dew groceries.
When we first started RVing, our goal was to visit every  state you could drive to. We were rushing from RV Park to RV Park from state to state. Now that we've RVed in all 49 (drive able) states, the states we're repeating, we're just taking our time! This has been a much more relaxing road trip! So today my friends....nothing to blog, just a day to relax.....all of us!
Now that's relaxed!

June 16th-June 18, 2014 LOAFING...Palmer Park....Tourist Day!

Monday June 16, 2014 Nothing today friends!!!! Total loafing. Breakfast,Otis walk, laundry, lunch, loafing, loafing, loafing, then dinner, Otis walk......! We tried to sit outside, but the wind brought us inside, we can't even set the awning up, the wind is too strong!
But at least I got the BLOG caught up! Tomorrow we are going into town! Stay tuned!!!

Tuesday June 17, 2014 This morning I woke up to the sound of the wind really howling!!! I thought it was really going to be cold outside from the sound of the wind, but nooooo, soon enough Lennie came in from his walk & he was wearing his "gym shorts" so I knew it wasn't cold out!?! Okay let's get the coffee going & breakfast out of the way!!! Today is not going to be a busy day, we have just been enjoying a lot of relaxing/loafing while staying here at Mountaindale RV Park! We are going to pack a picnic lunch & go check out Palmer Park! Don't worry Otis, you get to go & I won't forget a piece of lunch meat for your lunch!!!! Off we go.......
And here we are at Palmer Park!
Our picnics aren't just for enjoying lunch with a view, but also Lennie's chance to make any phone calls necessary, as we have little to no phone reception out at Mountaindale!
I  don't want to say that we don't enjoy the
lunch!
& yes Otis I remembered a piece of lunch meat for you! Are you spoiling the dog Len????
We try hard to have a picnic with a view, last year I kind of rated our picnic spots!

We have left our picnic spot, but we are still in Palmer Park enjoying the scenery.
The mountains are awesomely impressive, we love them, but I'm also impressed by all the beautiful wild flowers growing along the sides of the roads & of course the natural cactus flowers!

Today was a good day, & to make it better.....on the way back to the RV Park Lennie pulled into the shopping center for a Frozen Yogurt! There was a lot of shade out front the yogurt shop, but no tables or benches! It was too warm today to leave Otis in the car so Lennie & I hurried in the Yogurt shop made our selection, & back to our car, Otis & A/C!

The day did not end well for poor Otis! After dinner & his nightly walk I still had time to give him a much needed bath!?!
I'm sorry Otis!?!
