June 16th-June 18, 2014 LOAFING...Palmer Park....Tourist Day!

Monday June 16, 2014 Nothing today friends!!!! Total loafing. Breakfast,Otis walk, laundry, lunch, loafing, loafing, loafing, then dinner, Otis walk......! We tried to sit outside, but the wind brought us inside, we can't even set the awning up, the wind is too strong!
But at least I got the BLOG caught up! Tomorrow we are going into town! Stay tuned!!!

Tuesday June 17, 2014 This morning I woke up to the sound of the wind really howling!!! I thought it was really going to be cold outside from the sound of the wind, but nooooo, soon enough Lennie came in from his walk & he was wearing his "gym shorts" so I knew it wasn't cold out!?! Okay let's get the coffee going & breakfast out of the way!!! Today is not going to be a busy day, we have just been enjoying a lot of relaxing/loafing while staying here at Mountaindale RV Park! We are going to pack a picnic lunch & go check out Palmer Park! Don't worry Otis, you get to go & I won't forget a piece of lunch meat for your lunch!!!! Off we go.......
And here we are at Palmer Park!
Our picnics aren't just for enjoying lunch with a view, but also Lennie's chance to make any phone calls necessary, as we have little to no phone reception out at Mountaindale!
I  don't want to say that we don't enjoy the
lunch!
& yes Otis I remembered a piece of lunch meat for you! Are you spoiling the dog Len????
We try hard to have a picnic with a view, last year I kind of rated our picnic spots!

We have left our picnic spot, but we are still in Palmer Park enjoying the scenery.
The mountains are awesomely impressive, we love them, but I'm also impressed by all the beautiful wild flowers growing along the sides of the roads & of course the natural cactus flowers!

Today was a good day, & to make it better.....on the way back to the RV Park Lennie pulled into the shopping center for a Frozen Yogurt! There was a lot of shade out front the yogurt shop, but no tables or benches! It was too warm today to leave Otis in the car so Lennie & I hurried in the Yogurt shop made our selection, & back to our car, Otis & A/C!

The day did not end well for poor Otis! After dinner & his nightly walk I still had time to give him a much needed bath!?!
I'm sorry Otis!?!

Wednesday June 18,2014  Today we are going to be real Colorado Tourists!!!! It's not an early day of sight seeing, we can take our time with breakfast & Otis' morning walk. In fact....Otis is NOT going with us today, so we take our time this morning so we don't have to leave him by himself any longer than necessary. I have to keep reminding myself that he is the family dog!!!!
So our day, that is to say, my day & Lennie's actually starts with lunch! NOT a picnic lunch today, nooooo today we're "TOURIST" so we do the tourist thing & head to downtown Colorado Springs to a well known eating site.....CURBSIDE CUISINE!!! This is Food Truck dining!!! Food Truck dining is not a new experience to Lennie & me but it is a fun experience! There were 5 Food Trucks & 1 Dessert Truck at the location today. We read ahead of time that sometimes there are up to 8-10 Food Trucks at the location.
We chose the Latin Truck
& I had Island Tacos while Lennie had the Pig Latin Plate! YUMMY!!!

The girl operating the dessert truck, called HEAVENLY DESSERTS, was smart! she walked around passing out samples of her desserts. Just the nudge we needed to indulge in Creme Brulee & brownie with salted Carmel sauce!!
Boy that was good! I'm definitely going to half to walk that off....later!?!
Now....to our main tourist attraction of the day! We went to the US Olympic Complex. Free tours of the complex include a walk along the Olympic Pathway & an inside look at the training facilities!
.
This is Chris, he led our group tour...
The wrestling gym

The workout gym

Olympic pool
We saw everything we could see except....athletes!?!
The Athletes residence center houses 130+ residents. Our tour guide, Chris, told us that most the athletes eat up to10,000 calories a day, all healthy food!  I want to be a athlete!!!
It was an interesting tour!

I guess Otis is waiting for us, time to head back to Mountaindale!
When we got home, Otis was indeed waiting for us!!!
"Hi Mom, Hi Dad, what'd you bring me!?!"
