June 25th-June27, 2014- Old Friends-Jersey Boys!-Pike Peak Hill Climb event

Wednesday June 25,2014 This day starts out just like every other day!!!But it's going to change! After Len's walk, breakfast, Otis' potty walk, showers....Lennie, Otis & I head into town!
We're going into Colorado Springs where I am going to meet up with an old friend, Janis, that I have known since KINDERGARTEN!!! Janis has been living in Colorado Springs for 10 years. But before heading to her apartment, first we have to take our blow out tire to any TIRE STORE! Since we're not from here.....we pull into the first shop we see, which is Tire World! Lennie drops the tire off, & they tell him to come back in about an hour. Now on to Janis' apartment, she should be home from work by now! We pull into the apartment complex & Len's cell phone rings. It's the tire store calling to tell him the tire is RUINED!!!! The only solution is to buy another tire ARRRRR $$$$$$ Janis is home & our plans are to meet Lennie later for PIZZA! Now that's a plan! Janis & I go back inside & hours of reminiscing begin!  We then went for a ride & she showed me around her area a little bit. Soon it was time to go meet Lennie at the pizza place. No waiting, Lennie was already there. Poor Otis....this round of the trip he didn't come, but was left on Guard Duty back at the RV!
We went to Luigi's, an Italian Restaurant that also served Pizza!
It was good pizza & good company!

On the way home we did NOT stop at McDonald's for "Mr McSpoiled"! He didn't need one, Lennie had already given Otis an Arby's after the tire was fixed!
Right up until bedtime, we could still hear helicopters, some kind of maneuvers were still going on at Fort Carson. Sometime during the night, when Otis thought the time was right.....he crept into our bed! I'm sure the helicopter noise was scaring him, or maybe HE thought WE were scared & he came back there to protect us!?!
Thursday June 26,2014 Another day in beautiful Colorado! Me & Otis are having our quality time back in the bed, Lennie is out on his walk! When Lennie gets in, he starts the coffee.Come on Otis, time to get up & have breakfast!  Slow start to the day from breakfast right through to lunch time. After lunch, an entirely different story! We take Otis for a walk, & then....Otis is staying home by himself, while we go to the movies! We are going to go see JERSEY BOYS!!!!
First stop the movie house?????NOOOOO first stop CULVER'S
We have a Buy One~Get One coupon for a sundae so we're having a treat before the movie!
Yummy, Black cherry chocolate chip sundaes!
We savor the flavor we have a while before the show starts! When we leave Culver's with some time to spare.....
I walk around in a couple of stores, Michael's  & Bed Bath & Beyond, Lennie heads straight to Home Depot!<-BORING!!!
Finally it's SHOW TIME!!!!
Lennie & I always rate the Coming Attractions previews. We don't go to the movie house that often, but we did see a couple of previews that interested us.We chose an afternoon showing for Otis' sake!?! The theater wasn't crowed, but everyone that was there, was "OUR AGE"!!!! It was mostly women in attendance, with a few men present. It was great music & great old cars!!! I hated when the movie ended!
Back at the RV....guess who's happy to see us!?!
Yep....Otis!!!

Those late afternoon sundaes kind of ruined our appetite for dinner. We decided just to have a bowl of soup & a salad. that's tough on Otis, he looks forward to "People Food" left overs!
Fort Carson was quiet tonight! No sounds of Military maneuvers going on, we got a good night's sleep cause Otis stayed in his bed all night long!!!!

Friday June 27, 2014 Sometimes as every day starts out the same I can't help but think of the movie, GROUND HOG DAY!!! After breakfast I go over to the RV laundry & do a load. Pretty soon Lennie & Otis come over there to help me carry it home. I don't know how much help Otis is going to be but he's always with Lennie!!!
Lunch is yummy, chicken salad with grapes, nuts & cranberries mixed in on a wrap. We take it easy today, loafing, spending time with Otis, but we have plans for tonight that don't include Otis!!!
We went to an outside event for the Pikes Peak Hill Climb race being held June 29. We thought we would just be looking at some of the cars but there was more, oh soooooo much more to that event! I took way too many pictures to post on the blog, but from what I have posted you will see that we had a good time tonight!
Approaching the Event

Yes there was cars!!!!!

& several of the area Fire Departments held chili cook offs at $1.00 a sample...we sampled 3 different chili's! Plus the kids were allowed to climb in & out of the fire trucks having the time of their life!
Yes this is a Fire Department!

The most excitement I thought was watching the Red bull Bikers do their act of bravery or craziness! We watched a pre-show, & it was announced what time the bikers would do a full show. We hurried to get a bite to eat.It was sooooo crowded at the event we grabbed the first restaurant that looked good, I don't even remember the name of the place, all I know it was a burger place, with hand pressed burger patties & it was GOOOOOD!!!

We finished our meal with only 7 minutes till show time! The streets were really crowded I was surprised at the good spot I found to stand at for picture taking! Then the show began!!!
Just warming up!

Their JUMP!!!

3 CRAZY Guys!!!

Fun for them, & the crowd, but too scary for me....I fell off my bike in my driveway once just trying to take off, I can't imagine doing the stunts these guys were doing!
Time to head back to the RV Park. Otis called & put in his order for his McDoubles! On the way back we see a sight Coloradans DON'T want to see....
this time it's not a cloud, but smoke billowing over the mountains. We learn from the news it is the 8 MILE fire in Penrose, Colo.
Otis gets his McDoubles, tonight his McDoubles served a duel purpose! A treat for him, & me.....I laced his burger with his Flea & Tick medicine!
Day is Done!
