Wednesday August 6, 2014 This morning we take off. Since all the prep work was done the day before.....all we have to do is buckle up & leave! I said BUCKLE UP!!!!

We have reservations at a Campground in Florence, Wisconsin called Camping in the Clouds! Sounds nice, let's go to Wisconsin!
We made it to Wisconsin, yay!!!
Just a potty & brochure stop at this Wisconsin Welcome Center!
We stop for lunch at a travel picnic Wayside.
as you see, we weren't the only RV pulled in for lunch!
Pretty nice lunch spot!!!
Then we arrive at Camping in the Clouds!!Florence, Wisconsin is pretty much on the Wisconsin/ Michigan state line. Good thing too cause when we pulled into the Campgrounds, well....we wished we weren't there! Lennie didn't like the dusty dirt road entry way....that I didn't mind, that can be typical of Campgrounds. When Len went in to register, I could see the entry road beyond the office & I could see bags of garbage up & down the road, geesh....where's the garbage dumpster??? Turns out the office overbooked our site! She was going to go find another site for us, but Lennie took advantage of the moment & told her we'd drive on! Just 14 miles further to Iron Mountain, Michigan & Rivers Bend Campground..

Thursday August 7, 2014 Today is going to be a fun day! We are going to pack a picnic lunch & drive to Foster City, we're not talking any distance here!?! Foster City, Michigan is where my father's family comes from & the OLD Erickson homestead still stands, well barely!?!
I'm making chicken salad for our lunch, when I empty out the can, I offer the "lickings" to Otis but he refuses! I'm a bit surprised that he refused, he loves to lick the tuna can! Oh wait, I keep forgetting how spoiled Otis is, so Lennie offered Otis the chicken can in his own manner.....as you can see, Otis did not refuse the chicken can from Lennie!

I stopped at the Foster City Post Office to get post card stamps......
& by the way.....now you've seen the WHOLE town!!!
It's a quiet spot for a picnic, hard to believe "TOWN" is just across the water. We hear no rush of traffic as we enjoy our lunch!?!
We let Otis roam free here, notice even tho he's off the leash, how close he is to Lennie! (I want my own dog!)
Going to check out the Erickson homestead now!
This little house is well over 100 years old! Nobody's lived in it for over 50 years!
Looks like the shed outback didn't make it!?!
I wonder how many more winter snows this back porch roof will be able to support???

I hate the climb, but it's always worth it!When I got to the top of the stairs, there's a nice little landing there with a bench to rest on....or sit & view the falls. There was a couple sitting up there, a grandma & her granddaughter. The granddaughter wanted to pet Otis & that always starts a conversation! The girl was from Wisconsin visiting grandma who was from Norway, Michigan. I asked Grandma (she was about my age...so young!) if being from Norway, Michigan made her a Norwegian!?! She said "NO"!!!!

I saw more deterioration this year over last year. It's still fun to come here & remember "back when!"
