July 31st-August 1, 2014 First day-Train ride to Minneapolis

Thursday July 31, 2014 Today We don't really have to rush around to do the "tourist" thing! We've been here before, so we may repeat some things, or....look for something new to do in the area!
We do know that we're going on a picnic, & we know right where too. Minneapolis has the largest park I've ever seen! It's called Grand Rounds. There is 50 miles of land designated for the park. We always go to the same area, Minnehaha Parkway. The reason we go to this area is the Minnehaha Waterfalls......just beautiful!!!!
but first our picnic!

"Did you bring something for me?"

& now the waterfalls......& once again I took too many pictures of the waterfalls!!!
Top of the falls

Now the beautiful Minnehaha Falls!

We walked down to this bridge. While sitting here with Otis, an 80 year old woman who was also enjoying the falls came over & started talking to us. She lives in Washington state & was here visiting her 90 year old Aunt. After she left, I was so sorry I didn't take her picture. She was so nice & friendly!!!!

What you can't see in this still shot is, those branches across the water were shaking up & down from the current!

It was pretty warm out, I can see the                                                                                                                           temptation here....

Oh to be young again.......!

"Like a bridge over Troubled Waters...."

Time to go back up to the top!

"Wildlife" on the trail!

Looks like the ESCALATOR is "Out Of Order"

Guess who's waiting for me!?!

These bikes were available for a rental fee....

Looks like fun, not sure where Otis would have                                                                                                              ridden!?!

We're going to head back to the RV park now, but no outing with Lennie is complete till we stop for a Yogurt!

Then he wonders why I want to wait to start                                                                                                     dinner........!?!
Friday August 1, 2014 Yesterday the couple parked next to us, also from Florida, told us they had ridden the train from Mall of America to St Paul. They told us you could ride the entire length or get on or off where ever you wanted, H-m-m-m-m we don't have any plans for today, why don't we go ride the train!?!Okay but.....Mr Otis, you can't ride on the train, you'll have to stay here & be on guard duty!!!!
He may look unhappy, but her really likes being                                                                                                                       his own boss!
We start out to the Mall of America
The ride into the city, the traffic is always                                                                                                                            heavy.....

We arrive at the Mall of America, not to shop, or even walk around......
but to ride the train!
We've been to the Mall of America before, but                                                                                                      we didn't know about the train!
The train is ready to roll!

We rode it all the way to the end of the line!
Looking back on the Nicolette Mall

This TARGET! Biggest Target I've ever seen!

Free Shuttle bus, you can catch it any where                                                                                                              on the Nicolette Mall

Bridge over the Mississippi River & St Paul is on                                                                                                 the other side of the Bridge!

1895 First Bridge over the Mississippi

Lunch in St Paul

After lunch, we walk back over the bridge, back into Minneapolis

We catch the train again, but this time a different line, & we ride it to the old Depot Station. We thought from other cities with old Depot Stations that there was going to be shops & kiosks throughout, but nooooo all we saw was a restaurant......maybe in time?

We may as well catch the train back to the Mall of America, go back to the RV & relieve Otis of his guard duties! So we do! We almost brought Otis back a McDoubles, but we didn't.I had some leftover roast beef from my lunch, that'll be a real treat for Mr Otis!!!!
Let's relax just a little before the dinner routine! After the dinner routine, there's no relaxing! Otis wants to go out, especially after being home by himself! Come on Otis....let's go walk!

I end this day with the sun starting to set.......
