Stopping for brochures!
Otis' first pee back in the states! "AAAAAH"!!!!
Sault Ste Marie, Michigan!
Our RV park is right down the street!!

                                                                       Here's our site!
Here's our view from our site!!!
                                                       From out the front window!!!!

We are within walking distance to the SOO Locks giving us the opportunity to watch the big freighters & barges as they go up & down the St. Mary's River !

Otis is enjoying the view too!!!
Our first sunset in Sault Ste Marie

Night lights on the International Bridge

Wednesday-August 17, 2016- When we arrived in Michigan from Canada, we still had some Canadian money left, not much, but some! Since the Canadian dollar is worth less in the states, instead of changing our Canadian currency back, we just decided to drive back over to Sault Ste Marie(Canadian side) & have lunch. That ought to take care of our left over Canadian money!!!
Here we go, back over the same bridge, this time from the US to the Canadian side.....
The traffic is really backed up for the people coming into the states?

Not as much traffic going into Canada?

Paying toll....
We parked on Sault Ste Marie's waterfront.I can the International Bridge in the background.

I'm not sure what this "BEAR BUSINESS" was all about, but I thought it was picture worthy!!!

                                                                       Our lunch spot was PIZZA!
I've eaten a LOT of pizza,& I think this is the BEST Pizza I've ever eaten!🍕🍕 I think it was the cheese! I can't describe how yummy that cheese tasted!?!

I guess Otis has suffered long enough without us, we better go back to the park!!!

No back up now! Maybe everyone was on their lunch break when we were coming over???
                                                             That infamous TOLL!

Hey!!!! We didn't go right to the campgrounds!
                                                     " One Plain McDouble Please!"
Thank-you! Otis is gonna love this!
                                                   "Did you bring me anything??????"
"Oh YUM! Thanks Dad & Mom!"

Now  "Mr McSpoiled" can ride with us to the Farmer's Market going on in downtown Sault Ste Marie!

This was a cool sculpture on the corner at the Farmer's Market

There was an Amish family selling vegetables, I don't know where they parked their horses, so it didn't bother Otis!

We did buy some tomatoes & apricots before walking downtown.....
Cute little hotel cabins across from the Soo Locks!

Back at the RV, we have left over Canadian Pizza!
People are already sitting outside watching the boats. This happens daily!

This family had 5 kids all under the age of 10!                                                                                                                         All cute as a button too!

                                                             Here's a big one!

We're enjoying a Tim Horton donut while we watch the boats!
"Oh look! I can see Canada from my RV site!"
                                         Tonight sunset &
Full moon in the same sky!

Thursday August 18, 2016- This morning, I'm awake lying in bed, not quite ready to get up yet, but a "fireball" is shining in my eyes! Since I haven't gotten out of bed yet....I don't realize it's a foggy morning. I should know this even before getting up as I keep hearing the blast of a fog horn from the boats! I force myself to open my eyes & realize that FIREBALL it the morning sun coming up over the St Mary's River! I jump up, grab my camera, run to the door, & Lennie who has already been up for awhile says......"I already took pictures of sunrise!"
                                                                     Wow......he did!
The fog really looks cool! (I was probably forcing myself to get up at this point!)

                                                   WOW!!!!<----did I say that already???
After we enjoy the rest of sunrise, we go on a walk....together!
Then we have coffee & our oatmeal & after showers.....I pack a picnic lunch cause we're going sightseeing!!!

We take the Tahquamenon Scenic Byway. Our first stop is Point Iroquois Lighthouse

Anyone willing, can walk the 72 stairs to the top of Point Iroquois Lighthouse, not today!
Back on the scenic byway, next stop Whitefish Point Light Station

Whitefish Point is the oldest active light on Lake Superior
Scenic overlooks provide visitors with spectacular views & access to Lake Superior's pristine shoreline.

With more than 200 ship wrecks in the vicinity, the area is known as Lake Superior's shipwreck Coast, but......the Edmund Fitzgerald remains the most famous & mysterious. The Fitzgerald lies twisted & broken just 17 miles from Whitefish Point, at a depth of 535 feet.
You can spend a night or two in this adaptively restored 1923 US Coast Guard Lifeboat Station Crews quarter. Each of the 5 themed rooms has a private bath, entertainment center with full satellite technology yet retain their historic charm!

Not climbing those tower stairs either!!!
We thought there would be a picnic area at Whitefish Point, but.....we found none there, but down the road!!!!
Not a bad view for our picnic!
Otis says he's glad he can't read!!!

                                                                A man & his dog!
NOW..... the hi-light of the day!!!
                                                 Upper & Lower Tahquamenon Falls!
                                                                 First the Lower Falls
It was a perfect weather day for "younger" people to be enjoying the Lower Falls!

We are walking to the Lower Falls....

We're walking back from the Lower Falls, Otis was starting to limp pretty good, so Lennie carried him the rest of the way!

Otis got a lot of sympathy remarks from people passing by!!!
                                                   FINALLY!!!!! I saw a Moose!!!
                                                           Ahhhhh! The Upper Falls!!!

                                                                      Just Awesome!

The perfect ending to a full day of sightseeing.....

                                                                                ICE CREAM!!!!

NO.......this was the PERFECT ending to our day!!!!

  1. Fabulous photos. AGAIN!!! Didn't you have to go thru customs on the bridge? Just tolls? I love coming over a hill or just around a corner and BOOM....there is a water view!!! LOVE IT!! Sure love your campsite in Sault Ste. Marie too. I could sit and watch the boats forever. I see you made it to the Whitefish lighthouse. But you didn't mention the museum. Didn't you go in? The people (on the blog) said it was really wonderful. I liked that prayer in the woods too. Awesome waterfalls.
