Sunday July 31, 2016- This morning we are leaving Duluth, heading to International Falls, Minnesota. This destination is someplace neither Lennie or I have ever been to!?!
Otis thinks he's ready but he hasn't even been out to potty yet!!Come on Otis take care of business so we can take off!
We must be ready to roll!
On the road again........!
As we drive through Duluth the storm debris is still present.....
That must have been a heck of a storm!
We have to make a major stop before our next destination of Canada. Gas & some groceries at Walmart, that & Walmart is our ATM machine!
Okay, we're moving again, but at a slower pace??? Something is wrong, we have no boost???
We had this problem before, the year we went to Alaska, it was a hose. that's the first thing Lennie's going to check & sure enough that was the problem. There's a HOLE in the hose he replaced in Anchorage! We're adjacent to an Auto Zone, they of course don't have the necessary hose we need....Lennie does carry Mechanics tape, which is better than Duct tape when it come to repairing things. Hopefully it will hold to we get to our destination of Arnold's RV Park in International Falls!
Hope we have no hills over the next 77 miles, that's when we feel the loss of power....😓
I needed an "Otis Break" & made him get off my lap.....all he does is go around the back of the seat looking for another way onto my lap! The dog never gives up!
Well we made it this far, now to get to Arnold's RV Park!
It's a very small RV Park, caters mostly to Fishing & Boating families as does everything else in International Falls!
Lennie couldn't wait till we were set up so he could pull that hose off, & this time in a joint effort, we wrapped it properly. He called the Cummins Shop in Winnipeg, they do have a hose in stock! The tape job will work till we get up there, actually probably even longer!
Monday August 1, 2016- International Falls, Minnesota for us was just a lay over before entering Canada. It's one of those places you've always heard of, but just never been to....now we can say we've been there too! International Falls is one of the coldest cities in the US in the winter, but today it was 85 degrees & humid! I had to go do my favorite chore.....
While I was doing laundry, I heard a few other customers complaining how hot it was!!! This laundramat did NOT have A/C! Most times it probably isn't necessary! There was no shade to sit in so Lennie & Otis went back to the RV park till I was done then they came & rescued me!
Soooooo, what do you do when visiting International Falls? Most people, unlike us, come for more than a day! They also come with a purpose!?!This is definitely lake country up here!International Falls, Ranier, Rainy Lake, & Rainy River, get your boats & fishing poles out, situated in scenic Minnesota. Not to mention Voyageurs National Park, Minnesota's only National Park-218,000 acres of islands, waters, & campsites &....boat tours! But we weren't in International Falls for that kind of fun, just passing through soooooo we went to:
This is the tallest Smokey the Bear statue & in the winter, they put scarves & mittens on Smokey & the cubs!!!!
This is the Famous Ronning's which boasts to be the last store in the US! They are one block from the US /Canadian border.
If you're coming from the Canadian border into Minnesota, this is the first sign you see!
We did drive to Rainy Lake& Ranier, as all those small towns followed one another.....
Good thing we're not driving the RV right now!
These hills would be a real test for the mechanic's tape!
Our one day in International Falls is over! Tomorrow we leave for Canada!

Tuesday August 2, 2016- Good-bye Minnesota!!! We are on the road to Canada. Now from International Falls, you can see the Canadian border, easy peasy but......we're not entering there, we have about a hundred mile drive!!!
So here we go!Oh of Course!!!!
There back on the road again!
This is a field of Sunflowers!
We must be getting close???
Yep....6 miles!
There's the Canadian border! Just a few questions & we're in! They were more concerned about whether or not we had any guns or alcohol? They didn't even ask about Otis' shot record!
We're across the border!
So far......looks the same as the US!?!
Talk about a LONG ROAD? To somewhere I hope!!!!
WELCOME!!!!
There's our destination!
Pulling in!
This is a good size park. The sites are located on circles. When we pulled into our location Swamp Bay, there was already 2 Fifth Wheels parked in their sites ahead of us. This gave us ZERO space between their rigs & our RV as we passed them! I just held my breath as Lennie inched along side those two Fifth wheels, just waiting to hear the sound of scraping as we made contact.....but we didn't!!! We made it without doing any vehicular damage to any of our units!!!Later that night, the owner of the fifth wheel behind us came over to congratulate Lennie on his driving!!! He said his wife was watching out the window, I'm sure she was holding her breath too as she watched!!!!
After all the excitement of getting into our site...we're all set up!
Looks like we have company! There was 2 of them
They weren't the least bit timid either!!!!
Good thing we have our guard dog!

Wednesday August 3, 2016- Today was a down day for us........Haircuts for both the boys, Lennie & Otis!!! Poor Otis! It was his first haircut since his accident May 18th, tho he's been long overdue for a haircut, I just didn't think he was able to stand on his bum leg for too long! He's all groomed up now!!!After haircuts.......our picnic!
Right here at our site!
Hot Dogs on the grill!
I know....the #1 Park rule is:DON'T FEED THE ANIMALS but I think they mean maybe BEARS??? This little critter was just begging to have his picture taken & what better way to get him to pose than by throwing him a potato chip!?!
After lunch we drove into Winnipeg to the Cummins shop to pick up our hose for the RV, & to find a place for Otis to get his nails clipped!!!😕 We're not telling Otis that part!!!!

Thursday August 4, 2016- This morning when I got up Lennie was gone.....in the car???? That usually means he's gone after breakfast pastries, but there's nothing close by for him to be doing that??? Soon enough he came in, he'd just gone to find the bike/walking path! then he wanted to know if I wanted to go on a bike ride? I kept looking out the window & it looked like rain to me!?! today finally the weather tho overcast & rainy at times, 70 degrees & it felt good!
Today Otis sorry but you're not tagging along! We won't be gone long, just lunch & a little looking around Winnipeg.
" Be a big boy, you've got your treat, we'll be right back!"We're having lunch here at The Forks Market
It looks pretty interesting....
It's not just a food court, on the second floor there's some shops to poke around in!
This is our lunch choice.....
It's cheese & potato perrogies, with carmelized onions, coleslaw & a sausage!Dessert will come later!
Behind the Forks Market is the Riverwalk. We're going to come on Sunday, right now we're just taking a quick look around!
I know what those are.....CANADIAN GEESE!!!
We're riding the elevator to the top observation deck......It's only 3 floors up!!!
View of the River walk from the observation deck.
This is not a statue.....it's one of those painted mime's freeze posing for tips.
Remember what I said about DESSERT later......now it's later!!!
(Those weren't both for me!?!)
Time to go home, it's raining a little & Otis is missing us!
