Friday July 4, 2014 Happy Birthday America!! Today is suppose to be hot, like firecracker hot!?!After Len gets in from walking, breakfast taken care of, it's time for Otis' potty walk. We feel the heat, ugh!!! Today we are cooking out & my friend Janis is coming over for dinner! On our way back to the RV while walking Otis, we see our FAVORITE banner hanging outside the office. ICE CREAM FEAST TONIGHT! But it's Friday, Mountaindale RV park has an ice cream social every Saturday night. Lennie goes in the office to find out the details! Turns out there IS ice cream tonight! Due to the 4th of July holiday, they're not just having ice cream they're have a complete BBQ! I wish we would have known this earlier, we would have gotten in on it!?! Oh well, we can still go down for the ice cream! Not only a BBQ but they had a Hay Wagon ride going on too! There's not as many kids here for the 4th of July as there was last weekend!?!
There's a Rally going on this weekend at Mountaindale RV Park. It's the Colorado Trike Club. They had some real nice Trikes!!!
I wonder if when it comes time to getting our ice cream if I rather have kids in line, or the bikers!?!
Lennie & I didn't have anything to do today till our cook out, we did it all yesterday!!! We sat outside, Lennie had the awing out, everything looks so inviting, Otis was outside with us! I was thinking about our little cookout, so nice out, we'd eat outside & just enjoy! But then......the clouds came, then the rain, & finally the wind & that 90 degree temps dropped 20 degrees! Eventually I went inside & changed from a sleeveless top to a T-shirt! So ended our plans to enjoy the outdoors! The wind wouldn't give up...shortly after Janis arrived Lennie had to put the awning up. We had to move the party inside! We haven't grilled steaks in soooo long, Lennie was actually disappointed in the results, not me, not Otis either! The good thing was.....by the time we were done with dinner & dishes the wind had quit! Just in time for us to go get in line for Ice Cream!!!
Pretty good line for ice cream between the Biker club & the holiday campers, no place to sit down there so we took our ice cream back to the RV & sat outside & enjoyed!!!
(Look at me, I definitely didn't need any ice cream!)
Janis wanted to head back into Colorado Springs before it got too dark, understandable it's quite the road on the way out of the RV Park back into the Springs.....after Janis left, Lennie & I went inside & watched the fireworks being shot off in Washington DC. No fireworks here tonight, sorry Otis, you're sleeping in your own bed tonight!!!
Saturday July 5, 2014 Boy this month went fast. We're down to our last few days here & I still haven't walked with Len! When he gets in we have our coffee & breakfast! Then Otis who is waiting patiently.....is taken for his morning walk!Today we're going on a picnic. I'm making us chicken salad sandwiches. Not only is Otis happy he gets to go on the picnic, he's also happy I'm making chicken salad cause he gets to lick the can!?!
We take a drive to Helen Hunt Jackson Falls, in hopes of a picnic spot....but too crowded!
Back down Otis is wondering what came over him!
We drove a little further down the road till we found some available picnic tables with a creek running along side our picnic site!
& we weren't the only ones enjoying the little creek!
We drove back into Old Colorado City for one more "look around"!
They were having a Farmers Market at the Plaza today. It gave us a chance to buy some tomatoes &
We're saying "Good-Bye" to some of the Colorado sites we enjoyed! Good-Bye Garden of the Gods!
Looks like we weren't the only ones saying "Good-Bye"!?!
When Lennie & I went to the Pikes Peak Hill climb event, I won a JR Frosty from WENDY'S!!!! Yay! time to collect on it!

Needless to say that JR Frosty didn't ruin my dinner appetite! After dinner....Mountaindale had ICE CREAM again!!!! Well today is Saturday, ice cream day, but we were surprised they had it 2 days in a row!!!

Sunday July 6,2014 Today is another hot day....what's going on here!?! We're winding down, no more sight seeing....too hot today to walk around! What can we do on a hot Sunday afternoon??? Go to the nice A/C theater!
Some routines are great to repeat, like going to Culver's before the movie starts for a treat!

Well, it wasn't....Rocky Road was the choice flavor of the day....still good!
We went & saw the comedy movie:TAMMY, it was funny!!!!

Glad you had a good 4th of July. The vistas there are gorgeous and I love all the waterfalls you see along the way. I would like to see the movie "Tammy". Was it good? Where are we off to next???? Will it be for another month? Must feel good to not be on such a fast paced vacation all the time.
ReplyDeleteHello Muriel! 4th of July was great, especially for Otis! Our next stop is Cherry Hill State Park, still Colorado,for a week, then one more stop & stay in Colorado before we head to a different state! Tammy was funny, if you don't mind a little profanity!?!
