Cherry Creek State Park has an abundance of bike paths. Those paths are loaded with bicyclist. They don't look like Lennie & me either! They have their fancy bikes, their little biker shorts, & here come Len & myself on our "pedal-power" bikes, the rest of the lot just go zipping past us!!! When we first hit the bike path.....Len TRIED to take me up a hill that my bike, & me, just refused to go up! Quickly we got back on the bike path!
If I don't look happy....I'm not! I think I'm too old to be riding a bike, & my knees agree! Why can't I have a bike with gears!?!
Some bike scenery
"Come on Wen....catch up!" |
My favorite part of this morning's bike ride was....the ride back to our RV site. It was downhill all the way, made me feel like I had gears after all! The only thing missing now is the little Lycra bike shorts!Otis is happy to see us return & I am happy to see the coffee brewing! After showers we're packing a picnic lunch & heading for the "picnic road" somewhere!
We don't really have a picnic destination in mind, we're just going to drive till we find "something"!?!
& we drove till we wound up in Boulder, Co to Chautauqua Park. We didn't know where we were at,at first, this is no ordinary park! At Chautauqua Park there's a community house, a National Auditorium, cottages, dining hall. We weren't sure we could just haul out our picnic gear & eat here without some kind of official park pass!?!
While we were eating our lunch, we were listening to the music coming from the auditorium. I guess that added some class to our lunch!?!
After our lunch we drove around Boulder a little. We saw this outside mall, called Pearl Street Mall. It looked like a cool place to walk around!Parking....well parking was a challenge. We finally found a parking garage that had 29 spots available, got our parking ticket & drove around & around. Floor to floor! Where are these 29 spots??? On the top floor (roof top) we found 1 spot & squeezed into it, walked down 5 flights of stairs out onto the street & on the way to the mall. That's when Lennie read: NO PETS ON THE MALL!!!! Arrrrrrrrr There was no sense paying for parking when we couldn't walk around. Back to the parking garage, where I told Len that Otis & I were NOT walking back up to the roof! Thank goodness for the elevator!
Before heading back to the RV, we decided to take a quick ride down Colfax Street in Denver. We wanted to check out what we might see on our "day in Denver without Otis"!?!
Don't ask!!!! We saw this jeep parked as we drove through City Park. All I can say is.....Someones had too many Happy Meals!?!
Thursday July 10, 2014 Every night I tell Lennie I'm going to walk with him in the morning & every morning he "slips" out the RV without waking me! Even Otis comes quietly back to bed with me while Lennie is out walking.Again this morning Lennie & I go ride our bikes, I hear my knees screaming at me,they're saying,"Are you CRAZY or what!?!" Once again I can't wait for the return trip back to the RV, down hill all the way....WHEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!Back at the RV, Len let's Otis out to greet me!
Otis is NOT fooling me, he's not happy to see me, he wants breakfast! We all have breakfast, cause we have another picnic to pack for! With everything done.....we head out!
First stop, RED ROCKS AMPHITHEATER!
This is the all natural rock amphitheater, where anyone who is anybody, has either played here, or wants to play here. Although we have never seen a concert here, last year we did see the movie, The Blues Brothers, on their movie night!Otis would not enjoy a movie or a concert here. He just doesn't realize how great this place is!?! All Otis is interested in is....Where's the next picnic going to be!?!
It's a nice park!
Okay Otis....if you didn't enjoy our lunch break, maybe you'll enjoy some scenic driving!?! We're going to leave the town of Golden
& head to the scenic mountains views!!
Climb in the back Otis.....here we go!
We better head home, spaghetti is on the dinner menu for tonight!
See you tomorrow!
Glad to see you guys out riding...must have been fun. I see so many pretty bike trails on the blogs I read. Especially, the railroad trails on the old unused tracks. Some have exceptional scenery. That was quite the jeep. Freedom of artistic ability??!! LOL LOL Thanks for the reply, Wendy, on the last blog. I was shocked LOL LOL!!! (pleasantly)
ReplyDeleteIf you check....I have commented on more than one of your comments, now that I have figured out how to do it!!! The bike riding is still a challenge for me....I am sooooo out of shape. Today I bought some Ben Gay for my knees! I'm going to grease them up before I start the ride & see if that helps!?!
ReplyDeleteThey say the more you use your knees, the better they get!! I'm not so sure about that one but I don't move much LOL. However, I do find if I sit too long, I get stiff and painful. I like aspercreme and it doesn't smell. I have found relief with that.
