Happy Father's Day

June 21, 2015-Sunday-This morning I woke up to Lennie announcing we were having Pancakes for breakfast! I was excited, I thought we must be going out to eat!?! WRONG!!!! He wanted me to make pancakes,! Which I would have except.....I didn't have what we needed to make pancakes! We were just at Walmart, why didn't he think about pancakes then!?!     He settled for his usual oatmeal then took Otis out!
We learned since today is Father's Day, all dads get in FREE  at the Harry Truman Library, since today is Father's Day, all dad's are free! We've been there before, but somethings are worth repeating & the weather isn't real promising....
Otis has to stay behind, he'll be just fine, the Library isn't that far away, in fact it is within walking distance!!!
Ready to go see some history!

Both Harry & Bess are buried here

His home library just as he left it
The Oval Office during his term

His cars & farm buggy

This was "Mr Harry Truman" he had held a Press Conference at the Library after which you could freely ask him any questions!
It had rained while we were in Truman's Library, a big change over yesterday's sweltering heat!
Next.....the organ recital at Community of Christ Temple. Everyday at 3:00pm they hold a FREE organ recital at the church or the auditorium. Today it was at the church. I'm glad I've been wanting to see the inside of this church!
This church is huge!!!

Still working our way to the sanctuary
Looking up at the ceiling, this is the spiral steeple that is visible for sooooo many miles
The massive pipe organ

The Organ recital was presented by Nicholas Good, the presentation lasted for 30 minutes.

The sanctuary seats 1,600 people

Ground breaking for this church began April 1990, construction was completed in 1992. We only saw a portion of the church & BTW....they do have tours!
Bye now it's time to go have a Father's Day dinner. Again we are going to a restaurant we learned about on the Trolley tour! See how much information we gained by taking the tour! Lennie researched the restaurant. Aurthur Bryants, the place for ribs!!!! This place has such a reputation for good food,, even Presidents have come here to dine. Just because Presidents have dined here.....it's not a fancy joint as we discovered when we arrived! It was a fun place & the food was GREAT!!!
This is where you wanted to eat Len???
                                 Looks like standing room only?
                                           So much to chose from!
We shared a combination meal of sliced pork & ribs! So much food, makes Otis happy!
I would definitely come here again!
This was the line going in after we left! Looks like we got there at the right time! Okay Otis we're on our way home with a doggy box!!!
"Hi Mom, Hi Dad, did ya bring me something!?!"
All he wants is the doggy box!
Big improvement in the weather while we were eating....nice way to end the day!
June 22, 2015-Monday-Today is the day we do clean-up at the RV in preparation of leaving tomorrow. We've really enjoyed our stay here in Independence in spite of the heat, we would come back to this area again!
After Len returns from his morning walk & his coffee & oatmeal, he begins by washing the RV.

I'm cleaning the inside of the RV & also gave Otis a much needed haircut!
"Somehow" while cleaning the bathroom I accidentally locked the bathroom door & didn't even know it!?! When I was done cleaning, of course I shut the door. Lennie came in from outside, & it is hot outside, needing to use the bathroom & the door is locked!!!! There's no bathroom key!!!! There's no pictures here, but you can easily picture in your mind the ranting & raving that was going on during the time he discovered the locked door till he finally got back inside the bathroom!?! Not really funny!!!! He had to punch the lock out to gain entry. I finish Otis' haircut in spite of all the "male frustration" going on in the background!?! Otis never gets a GOOD Haircut he always gets a "Good Enough" haircut. He hates getting groomed & doesn't cooperate, therefore his haircuts are just Good enough!
The rest of the afternoon we went to Lowes, Home Depot, & Ace Hardware looking for a new door knob, but of course...RV doors are not your standard size doors, they are not as wide as a "normal" bathroom door. Lennie will figure out something, in the mean time, we have a "PEEPHOLE" in our bathroom door!
Who would of thought when Lennie Ray called Lennie Sunday on Father's Day that he would be working right here in Independence, the same town we were visiting in!?! We knew he traveled some with his job, he works for a company that does remodels on Walgreens, Walmart, etc...this time it was an Auto Zone store. He was staying at a hotel about 5 miles down the road from our RV park. So in the Father's Day surprise conversation, we made arrangements to meet for dinner. Lennie chose a Chicken place, STROUD'S, that we had been to before & enjoyed!

Our waitress was young, cute, bubbly, but a photographer....not so sure!?! Then again, maybe it was the subjects she was asked to photograph!?! The food was good, plenty as you can see, Lennie Ray & Otis each got a "Doggy Bag"!?!
Lennie, Otis & I are heading out in the morning & Lennie Ray's job starts at 6:30 am so it was time to call it a night, & Good-bye to Missouri!
