Sitting Idle.......Bike rides......

June 2nd-June 8th-Hello June! We've moved into a new month, still at Hi-Tide. I think next year we might have to reconsider how much time we actually spend in Illinois, at least till some of our family & friends retire! The weather while we've been here hasn't been the greatest, so much rain I think I can hear the corn growing! I feel bad for Chris Flippen, as a campground owner he lives for the weekends $$$$, Hi-Tide is celebrating 50 years in business, & yesterday Chris had FREE SWIMMING, open to the public, but we also had storms!Such is the life of a campground owner.......
June 2, 2015-Tuesday-Today Lennie & I have separate plans! I'm having lunch with long time friend, Alice Gonzales, while Lennie is having lunch with Lennie Ray. I asked Lennie to take pictures from his cell phone for the purpose of the blog but guys aren't into that picture taking stuff!!!! Alice & I had lunch at Golden Corral, while Lennie had lunch at Sweet Tomatoes<-excellent choice!!!! After lunch Alice & I tried to find another long time friend, Betty McAlister. We first tried her house, unbeknown to us she moved!!! We knew when all else failed, if there was anyone at her church they could track Betty down & that's exactly how it worked out!!! We stayed in the church parking lot laughing & reminiscing, making plans for another get together end of August or early September. Sure was good to see them again!!!

June 5, 2015-Friday-Today we are meeting Ron & his lady friend, Terrie at Harner's in North Aurora. Ron told us Harner's has a Pig Roast the first Friday of every month! It also looks like a nice day for a bike ride & Harner's is adjacent to the Fox River bike trail!!!
Harner's always has a good turnout for this event & why wouldn't they.....they have GREAT food!
They served such a generous helping of the pork, Otis had a nice to-go box when we got home, which he always expects!!!
We better go pedal some of this lunch off, too bad Ron & Terrie didn't bring bikes along!!!
This is from the bike trail parking lot! I wonder how many bike rides start or end at Harner's!?! Okay...time to roll!
We are going up the same bike path, to Batavia & back,
                                          along the Fox River.
This time when we when we reach Quarry Park people are in the pool enjoying it! I'm not sure about the enjoying part! There hasn't been enough warm days to warm that water up enough for me to want to take a dip!!!

I want to stop off at the Batavia Westside Cemetery, & back in the day....you could cut through to the cemetery from Quarry Park. It was a steep road we use to use as a shortcut going home from the Quarry. No longer possible, they now have that old road blocked off! We have to pedal up a hill, I cannot do it & have to walk my bike till I reach Batavia Avenue. Then it's just a few short blocks to the cemetery.
This time while visiting family gravesites, we did NOT see a Fox lurking around the headstones!

We even said "Hello" to Les....

I wanted to go back to the bike path from the cemetery, but with the road now gone no choice to go back the way we came. This time the same road I chose to walk my bike up was now a easy ride down, in fact I had the brakes on for a lot of my ride down the hill! Lennie is always way out in front of me!!!
One more stop at the Quarry, for me to recoup from my scary ride down the hill!
A little Batavia History!
It really is a pretty ride!
OH Look....a friend of mine!
I'm gonna make it!!!
There it is, the North Aurora bridge, we made it back!

June 6, 2015-Saturday-This was the scene Lennie woke up to Saturday morning when he left to go on his morning walk! I'd say someone got mad at us!?!
Today promises to be another nice day! After lunch we load the bikes on the car, this time we're taking a different bike path. they have so many bike paths around here. Most of them use to be rail road tracks! Today we're going to pick up the bike path on Prairie.
                                    The bridge we're going over....
                                                  Here we go!
Looks like a nice trail so far!!!
I make him stop for all Photo opts!
Same Fox River, different end. Viewing Aurora.

Viewing Montgomery
This bike path took us right by Lennie's first School! He started kindergarten here at Dieterich School 63 years ago. Just a little cute curly headed little boy!!!
                                              Heading back......
& we're looking for Ice Cream!!!
& we find it!!! We had to go off the beaten path, but it was worth it!
On the way home from our bike ride we stopped in Somonauk at Uncle Milty's Pizza! I LOVE that place. We ordered the pizza to be ready at 6:30pm dinner time. I think they do deliver out to Hi-Tide but that's okay, getting close to 6:30 Otis would be ready for a drive!!!
                                                  OH BOY!!!!!
Dinner is served!!!

June 7, 2015-Sunday-This morning Lennie left for his morning walk. That walk usually takes place between 6:00-6:30am. When he leaves, he lets Otis come back to our bed for snuggle time! This particular morning Len was just finishing up his morning walk when the skies opened up & the thunder was deafening for a poor scared dog! He felt like second skin to me!
Poor Otis!
After the rain, Lennie took a 2nd "shower" & I took mine,

we're meeting Lee & Lana in Somonauk at the Country Kitchen for breakfast!!! YUM!!! We enjoyed the company & the breakfast!

After breakfast Lennie & I have one more cemetery visit to make. We need to head out while the sun is threatening to shine cause that won't last long!?!

Lennie sang "Happy Birthday" to his dad
before we walked over to Suzie.....

Heading back to Hi-Tide now....I think Lennie said Otis called. I thought I took the cell phone away from Otis!?!
By the way.....there's left over breakfast sausage waiting for Otis!
