Lunch at Pizza hut--------Fishing & Fire works!

July 3, 2015-Friday- This morning as I'm walking to the historic cemetery, I'm anxious to see the new manicured look! When I get there, wow....I can see grave sites I didn't see before due to the overgrowth! The prisoners did do a good job! I know Lennie has already seen it as he walks earlier than  do, but I can't wait to tell the Dumont's as they don't walk to the cemetery, not even for phone messages....they drive!!!!
Did I get back in time for coffee, or just in time to catch some dogs getting spoiled!?!
So......it turns out we do have a little "adventure" planned for today! We have to run into Salida to get a few things at Walmart & we're going to have lunch at the Pizza Hut Buffet! Not that we need it, or that Pizza Hut is a choice pizza selection, but hey....if it's offered....I'll eat it!!!
                                   All aboard for Pizza Hut!!!!

We just sat down & ordered our drinks when in came a group of 30 or so teenage kids, with a few adults from a camp of some sort, we immediately thought, we're going to be in trouble with getting pizza!!!! Turns out, this group had called ahead letting Pizza Hut know they were coming in with a large group! There was no reason to panic, Pizza Hut did a great job keeping up with the pizza's!
I'm so full & now we have to go to Walmart to pick up a few things for our 4th of July cookout!
We also bought a fishing license!!! Tomorrow we're going fishing!!!
This is Brittney & her dog, Bella. Her husband Tim was a big help when our RV was stuck down in the mud bog. I see Brittney fishing almost everyday. She pulls in Brown & Rainbow trout all the time. The limit to keep is 4. She & Tim don't even want the fish, she cleans & grills her catch for.....BELLA!!!! Well Brittney....tomorrow we're going to give you a run for your money....maybe!?! (btw....Bella weighs 90lbs!)
Everyday since we've been here in Howard, you can count on an afternoon rain! Sometimes just a short shower, other times a down pour, but so far one thing you can count on....it's daily!
After the rain you can count on some cool pictures!

Even with the rain, we still had a nice sunset!

Tomorrow is the 4th....I hope it rains early so as to not ruin the Fireworks display!?!
July 4, 2015-Saturday-    HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!!!!
Even tho it's a holiday we still take our morning walk (separately!!!) the walk for me is not just for the purpose of the cemetery phone booth, mainly for much needed exercise!!!!!
Today is all about fun!!!! After breakfast Lennie & I are going fishing!!!Watch out Brittney here we come with our fishing poles!!!

Brittney passed on some of her fishing tips to us, but tips or no tips, fishing is all about luck & patience......Isn't it!?!

Rich & Joan offered their advice & guidance too!!! I guess we needed all the help we could get???
Even with every one's help & advice....it didn't help us, we had the patience, but we didn't have the luck!!!
I want a refund on my fishing license!!!
(we're not giving up yet! watch out fish, we're gonna come back when you're not expecting us!)
The fun isn't over yet, just because we didn't catch any fish (not yet anyhow!) that didn't spoil the rest of today's plans! We're having a cookout, we're eating early enough so we can go to Salida to watch tonight's fireworks display!

We had a great 4th of July spread! Grilled steaks, cottage cheese jello salad, tomato& onion salad, green beans with tomatoes & peppers, sauteed mushroom & onions, did I leave anything out???? It was all soooo good!

Hey dad.....any left over steak for me???
After we clean everything up from our feast....we have time to relax before we to walk our dogs & leave for Salida's fireworks. I make a big bag of popped pop corn, not like we need anything else right now, but by "show time" we may want that snack!!!
Yesterday when we went into Salida, we stopped at the visitors center to ask where the fireworks display could be seen from. We were told if we could see the "S" we'd be able to see the fireworks!
We found a good parking spot at the park within eye shot of Salida's "S". We were early enough we could walk the few blocks to downtown Salida to check out some of the holiday activities. There was quite a crowd. Back at our spot, no crowds, we had great seats & popcorn!!!

Let the show begin!!!
ooooh!
aaaah!
ooooh!
aaaah!

It was a great display of fireworks, but all too soon,,,the grand finale!

What a great ending to a fun filled day!!!

See you tomorrow!
