Wrapping it up......GOOD-BYE SPAGHETTI DINNER

July 16, 2015-Thursday- I hate to realize that our sightseeing days in Howard, Colorado & surrounding area are over. We are now just wrapping things up before we leave here on Saturday morning. Yesterday it rained, who would have thought!?!
This morning after breakfast we have to go to Salida for one more trip to the Laundromat! No laundry pictures.....such a sad subject! To make things worse, in one week the price of the washers went up 50 cents! Now it was $2.75 a machine & I needed 3 machines! If I had known about the price increase, I would have left the sheets on the bed for another week!!!!! Before we left to do laundry, we talked about going to Pizza Hut again for lunch. When the laundry was done....we headed to Pizza Hut, but much to our dismay......Pizza Hut was crowded & NO pizza on the buffet warmer!?! This is not going to work! There's more than one pizza joint in Salida & we found this one!
I'm sorry I didn't take a picture of our pizza because it was one of the best Pizza's I've eaten!!!
Every time we went into Salida I kept seeing this shop....THE PAINTED TURTLE, I didn't want to leave Salida without checking it out!

It was a little Junk Shop with a little bit of everything. You know what they say, "One man's junk is another man's Treasure". Looks like Len found a real "TREASURE"!?! (No he didn't buy it!) The owner of the shop GAVE me a ceramic turtle! I felt bad I couldn't find something else in the shop that I just couldn't live without......
Otis found out he had a "TREASURE" when we got home, good ole McDoubles!!! That dog is sooooo McSpoiled!!!!

When Rich & Joan joined us at Bandera's Bunkhouse & RV Park, they had their new puppies, Abbey & TJ with them. Joanie kept telling us how the pups are experiencing the first of many things yet to come in their puppy life. Camping for the first time, the pups yip at everyone & everything that goes by. Rich & Joan are trying to teach the pups they don't have to be so vocal. Joan first tried to get this point across using a broom every time they barked....
I don't think she intimidated the dogs at all.

Returning from laundry & lunch Joan tried another approach to the dogs yipping!
When that didn't work, she brought out the big guns!!!

This didn't really phase her dogs....they rather enjoyed it!!!
                                                Especially TJ!!!
Later I caught Joan going after the squirrel I'd been feeding pecans to!

AAAAH Another Beautiful Ending to our Day!
July 17, 2015-Friday-  Today is the last day I walk up to the Howard Cemetery, our phone booth, to check my cell phone for any phone or text messages. Tomorrow we move to Manitou Springs where better reception is almost a guarantee!

Once out of the mud bog we had a great site!
                                   What is this....AIR MAIL!?!

                              Hurry Len.....he's gaining on you!!!!!!
Not quite to the cemetery yet....
I am going to miss these sights!
I'm at the phone booth, time to check for messages!
I wonder why these Mountains were called TWIN Peaks!?!

Tonight we are cooking for the Dumont's! We are having a farewell dinner with them, Lennie chose Spaghetti. It's in the rules that we have spaghetti once a week! Late this afternoon I start preparing the spaghetti feast! Then the time has come. It's a nice night out, hey NO rain today!!! We can eat outside at the picnic table & the view.

Let Otis stay inside at least till we're done eating!
                                      OKAY......dinner is served!
It was pretty good if I do say so myself!
Rich & Joan STILL had leftover chocolate cream pie??? That pie would NOT have lasted that long in our refrigerator! We topped our spaghetti dinner off with the chocolate cream pie! Yummy I am sooooo full now, all I want to do is go put my jammies on & let it all spread out!

                                GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE!!!!!

  1. That's a nice pic of the 3 of you with the river in the background. In the new park, I like that you have the creek right behind you, but I don't like the fact that you are all sandwiched in so tight. Sorta ruins the ambiance!!! That is quite a pretty walk along the bike path. Have fun!
