On the Road Again.......!

August 22, 2015-Saturday- This morning we leave St Vrain State Park & Colorado.....

               The sun is up...& so are we. We're going to lose an hour today with the time change.

                                                            We better get going....

                                                         Pilot & Co-Pilot are ready!

     Good-Bye St Vrain State Park, we enjoyed our stay here, & I LOVED your fishing ponds!!!!

                                              We have LOTS of long miles ahead of us......

               Is that Otis on the floor while we're driving???? That lasted LESS than 5 minutes!

                                                                     Are we there yet!?!

We reach our overnight destination of Sunny Meadows in Elm Creek Nebraska. It served the purpose, the price was definitely right but I would not consider it a vacation destination! Of course I have no idea what the nearby points of interests may  be, we are just passing through!

                           Seems silly to connect everything when we're just spending the night????

Nothing to SOMETHING!?!

August 19, 2015-Wednesday- We are now at the end of the week, the end of our stay here at St. Vrain State Park &.....the end of our stay in Colorado!!!!We had nothing blog worthy to post today! We are just loafing, well I did clean the RV thoroughly, it's sooooo dusty here! We did go fishing tonight but in reality we were just getting rid of our worms!!! This is no fish story, Len did have a good size fish on his hook, & yes it got away....but we saw it, you'll just have to picture it!!!!

Peak to Peak scenic byway-----I CAUGHT 2 FISH!!!!-----Peak to Peak continued

August 17, 2015-Monday- Just when I think I have seen all the scenery possible, Lennie has researched yet another scenic byway! Good thing my eyes get refreshed during the night !?! Colorado is home to 26 scenic & historic byways, Today's adventure is the Peak to Peak Scenic Byway. The Peak to Peak scenic byway provides some of Colorado's most spectacular mountain vistas as it winds 55 miles in & out of national forest lands. I'm sure I'll be taking too many pictures, then have to pick & choose which ones to post.....Our picnic lunch is packed, we may as well leave!

                                                                        and we start out.....

Even tho we can hear the busy highway from our site at St Vrain State Park, we know that within a few short miles we will be in awe of the natural beauty surrounding us! For that very reason we'll put up with the sound of the highway!

                  Now there's a sound we like to hear, the sound of a rushing roadside creek!

          We decide to picnic in Golden Gate Canyon State Park, it was a wooded wonderland!

                When you're no good at taking "SELFIES" you have to take 2 single pictures!!!

 There wasn't too many people at this park, school has started back in so many places that the crowds have really dwindled, makes it nice!!!!

 Unfortunately, fog is rolling in, as rain was in today's forecast. We decided to head back to St Vrain State Park & continue our drive tomorrow, after all we want to enjoy being able to see the scenery!

 Heading back to our state park turned out to be a fun & scenic trip! We turned off the paved highway onto a dirt road & we were pleasantly surprised at our finding.....

             It is raining now, time to head back to our car. "Andy & Opie" out front as usual!!!

Len caught a fish!!!! ----------Estes Park

August 16, 2015-Sunday- Wow!!!! this morning started off far different from our usual mornings!!! At 6:15 am Lennie told me to get up!!!! He said we weren't going to take a chance on the evening rain putting a damper on after dinner fishing, soooooooo we were going now!!! He already had the to-go coffee cups filled, Otis had been out pottied & had his breakfast! I better hurry up, the early bird catches the worm??? We had the worms in the refrigerator!!! I hurry & put "FISHING" clothes on so we can get down to the pond. We're not fishing at the pond at our camp site, too weedy! There's at least 5 fishing ponds in this state park!

 The sun is barely up, we're the only ones at this pond, COOTS POND, it's so peaceful!

                                  Even if we don't catch a fish, we're catching a good time!

    Yay!!!! I was more excited for Len than he was about catching the fish! (We threw it back in!)

 Come on Otis, now help me catch a fish!!!! He wasn't any help to me, I went home fish less....again!

Back at the RV after cleaning up, we packed a picnic lunch because our real goal for today was to have a picnic lunch in Estes Park & then walk around the town a little bit!

By the time we reached our picnic area it was raining! Good thing we went fishing early in the morning!!! We sat in the car for awhile waiting to see what the weather was going to do????

I hope we don't have to have our picnic in the car!

                     Noooooo we didn't!We got a break in the weather & had our picnic!!!

       After eating, we put our things back in the car & grabbed our umbrellas....just in case!!!

 Not only is it raining, it's THUNDERING!!!! We may as well head back, Otis doesn't like thunderstorms....

                                    In fact, he's scared to death of THUNDERSTORMS!!!!

                                           Back at the car.....my poor little wet scared dog!

and so we drive back home......
