August 4, 2015-Tuesday- After breakfast we pack a picnic lunch, mind you our portable picnic table now stays in the car! We are going on a scenic drive, the Lariat Loop.We are looking forward to seeing mountain canyons, great views of the Rocky Mountains & Eastern plains! We're excited & ready to go!!!
Except Otis who's been a little under the weather since eating tooooo much chicken on Sunday night. He act like he didn't want to go at first!?!
We're enroute....& already in the traffic!
I see the mountains coming into view, they're still hazy at this distance. The mountains are closer & the traffic lessens
We stopped briefly in the little town of Morrison. (it was a potty break for Otis & Lennie!)I had some postcards to mail but Morrison didn't have a Post Office or a drop box on the street! There were a few shops in the town so I HAD to look in them!
Like I said, there was just a few shops so it didn't take long to poke around in them while Lennie & Otis waited patiently for me!!!
Okay back on the Lariat Loop! We're not alone!
Going down hill is one thing, if he has to come back up.....good luck buddy. You've got stronger knees that I do!?!
Follow the Yellow Brick Road!
We are definitely enjoying the view!
This is Evergreen Lake, it will also be the back drop to our picnic lunch, but....not quite yet!!
Bear Creek watershed
What goes up.....
Still Evergreen Lake!
Must come down....
Nothing tops a scenic drive like seeing......
WILD LIFE!!!!!
That was sooooo cool!
Now the picnic lunch, with Evergreen Lake in the back ground!
We continue our scenic drive on the Lariat Loop.....
We have driven up Lookout Mountain Nature Preserve. Also Buffalo Bill Museum & Grave. We have been here before so we didn't go through the Museum or view the grave again (Otis didn't want to!?!) but we did enjoy the views again!!!
The only thing missing from this picture, is a Buzzard sitting in the top branches!
We have to go down that road!
If I zoomed in from the Buffalo Bill Museum parking lot, I could see the Coors Brewery in the town of Golden!
Then before you know it....it's time to head back down the scenic Lariat Loop back through the Denver traffic......
& then Aurora
& back to Cherry Creek RV Park!
There's more to the Lariat Loop then what we saw today, maybe another day we'll make another trip on the loop!
Pretty pics. I especially like the shots of the dam. That Elk was pretty cool too. Looks very velvety. Did Otis feel better after his excursion?
