The sun is up...& so are we. We're going to lose an hour today with the time change.
We better get going....
Pilot & Co-Pilot are ready!
Good-Bye St Vrain State Park, we enjoyed our stay here, & I LOVED your fishing ponds!!!!
We have LOTS of long miles ahead of us......
Otis takes his seat (on my lap) getting ready for all those miles!
Is that Otis on the floor while we're driving???? That lasted LESS than 5 minutes!
We reach our overnight destination of Sunny Meadows in Elm Creek Nebraska. It served the purpose, the price was definitely right but I would not consider it a vacation destination! Of course I have no idea what the nearby points of interests may be, we are just passing through!
Seems silly to connect everything when we're just spending the night????
Sun is starting to set hereOtis DEMANDS his nightly walk!
Good-Night Everyone!
August 23, 2015-Sunday- An we're off & rolling. Our destination today is another one nighter in Kellogg, Iowa.
I keep hoping Otis got tired of my lap, but he hasn't he takes these 2 minute breaks to get my hopes up!?!
We're now in Lincoln, Nebraska, off in the distance we see the University of Nebraska. I thought we might see the capital building too????
Lincoln is a big city.....lot of traffic but soon.....We're out of the city & into the Farmlands of....
IOWA!!!
LOTS of rolling miles of farmlands before we reach our destination in Kellogg.
It's a truck stop/gas station/restaurant with a campgrounds in the rear!
We stayed here on our way out, I wanted to test their statement of having the BEST BURGER but didn't get to, & here we are again & I'm still not having Iowa's BEST BURGER!!!I need to speak to my Union rep!!!
Don't get too comfortable Otis, we're only spending the night here. (Like he really sleeps in that bed!?!)
The farmer across from the campgrounds is definitely ready for fall!
August 24, 2015-Monday- Today we will reach our destination of Hi-Tide Beach & Campground in Leland, Illinois, where we will be staying for the next couple of weeks!!!
We're East bound on I-80It's definitely a truck route!!!
Thanks to Lennie's research.....we're taking a little side trip to the BIGGEST TRUCK STOP & Museum Iowa 80. This place has got to be a truck drivers dream!!!
The Museum had 80 old trucks on display, this was only part of their collection. Some of the trucks were at other shows.
(Needless to say I took a lot more pictures than I'm posting!!!)
After enjoying the Museum, we walked over to the Truck Stop which was like a little city! They had a restaurant, plus a food court, a dentist, barber, showers, bathroom & an endless gift shop!!!
This Truck stop has parking for 800 rigs!!!
Back on the road again.....
Can you read this sign!?!We going over the MISSISSIPPI RIVER!
Welcome to Illinois, the Land of Lincoln &.......
Road Construction!!!
There's a familiar sign!
Getting Closer!
Country Roads Take Me Home......
Here's our corner.........
& here's our Campgrounds, Hi-Tide in Leland, Illinois!
We are set up! Our home now through Sept 20th.
Somebody has already settled in!
Our goal here at Hi-Tide is to relax & visit with family & friends before we head out to our RV National Rally in Amanda Colonies, Iowa. I will blog when something fun or family oriented takes place, otherwise.....I will just be here relaxing!
Catch you later!!!!
I wrote a whole paragraph on my Kindle and lost the whole darn thing!!! GRRR! I love the truck stop and museum. I used to have a whole collection of dolls that my Dad got me on his overnight trips. Probably from a truck stop now that I think about it!!! That pumpkin display was pretty but a tad early!!! You have the same spot at Hi-Tide every year....must really feel like home! Enjoy your time with family and say hi to all the cousins.
