We start out.....
We are riding on the Hank Aaron State Trail, named after one of baseball's greatest players!!!The Hank Aaron State Trail is a paved path for bicyclists, walkers, runners, & skaters. It is miles & miles of a paved pathway, we are only riding a short distance of it!!!
Shortly into our ride we come to the Historic Soldier's Home, an interesting area that contains buildings dating back to 1867.Originally founded to provide a home for returning Civil War Soldiers, the complex greatly expanded over time & includes a cemetery honoring our nations fallen.
This building is where the Soldiers came to see plays & listen to musicals.....
This was the "Governor's" house! NOT the state, just Governor of the Soldier's Home complex.
This sign tells all the information I couldn't remember!!!
As we continue riding, the bike path takes us behind the Brewer's Stadium......
& then to the Valley Passage Ramp leading up to the Urban Ecology Center.
We are now riding through the new Three Bridges Park on our way to Mitchell Park & The Domes.
I'm not just looking foolish....I'm being a human SUN DIAL!
Can you believe this.....even on the bike path there's ROAD CONSTRUCTION!?!
Wait.... WHAATT????
Looks like they knew what they were talking about!?!
We stick to the path we started out on & ride back to the Campgrounds.Lennie said our ride was probably a distance of 7 or 8 miles, it felt longer than that to me!!!! Otis was, as always, happy to see us!
" Hi Mom!~ Hi Dad!!!!"" Did you bring me anything!?!"
Look Where we went tonight after dinner!!!!
Up here the big thing is Frozen Custard, not ice cream??? It is soooooo good!!!!
They didn't have any outside eating, we made do in our car!
We can't keep doing this!?!
Tuesday June 28, 2016- That beautiful day we had yesterday.....today, tho no rain, a little on the cool side, a little windy, not exactly bike riding weather, on the other hand, it's the kind of weather if we go on a drive Otis can(& does) join us. If we have to leave him in the car for a bit, it's okay!We drive to the German part of town for lunch. You know this means BRATS!!!
Len pays to park, it is cool enough to leave Otis in the carbut.....LUCKY Otis! It's a Dog-Friendly restaurant! They even brought him a bowl of water!
We are having brats at....where else?
Milwaukee Brat House!
This whole section of town was German!
Heading back to the car....
Wonder what kind of a boat is going under the bridge???
These steps lead out to the beach.....good thing "Hop-A-Long" Otis is with us, otherwise I know we'd be taking this route....
Looks like a postcard!
What you can't see between the trees is Lake Michigan. It was beautiful 2 shades of blue, looked more like the waters in the Caribbean!
Here I go again taking too many pictures of the same thing! This Light House was still in use till 1994.
This is a Museum
Pabst Beer was the FIRST beer I ever tried. 35 years ago we went on a tour of the Pabst Brewery!
I can't believe it 5:00pm & we're stopping for frozen custard!!! This is going to spoil our dinner!!!
This custard shop was really modern!
Look how quick "HAPPY"
turns to "SAD" !?!
I have noticed at just the few custard shops we've been to, they don't have much variety in flavor choices.....
But these 2 choices were great!!!!
Now we have to go home & think about having something for dinner!?!
