Historic Lititz--------Good-bye Pennsylvania, Hello Washington, DC!

October 22,2015-Thursday- This morning, as always, Lennie was already up. Most mornings he forces me & Otis, to rise & shine but this morning I was awaken, not by an alarm clock, but this lone cow from the farm behind us!! It kept MOOING sooooooo LOUD! I don't know if the cow was lonely or scared, or what, but it just kept carrying on!!!!
I went out to see what was going on with the cow, the farm looked cool with the morning fog!
There's that lonely cow, just MOOING away!!!
Come on Big Guy....what's a matter???
Good thing Otis is out here with me!?!

Good news Otis!!!! You're going with us today & better yet, we're going on a picnic!!! We are still enjoying wonderful summer like weather! Our picnic is going to be at the Lititz park in the historic town of Lititz with European roots.
As we load the car with our picnic goodies, I see the lonely cow now has friends? Maybe that's what he was doing, calling his friends to join him in the pasture???
I really enjoy these drives, the countryside here is soooo beautiful!

Our first stop In Lititz is the Wilbur Chocolate Candy Store. You could smell Chocolate from the parking lot! Can't wait to go inside!

                                                      This Carousel is EDIBLE!!!!!

There were only 3 gals in the back doing ALL the chocolate work! I would have loved to help out!

When you first enter the store, amid the candy display is several bowls of FREE chocolate drops. There's no sign that says, PLEASE LIMIT YOURSELF TO ONE SAMPLE Oh boy!!!Of course I had to buy Reese a little goody from that store, he's our chocoholic!!! I could have stayed in that store longer, well at lest till the FREE samples ran out!!!!!

Next stop Tom Sturgis Pretzel, America's FIRST baking family since 1861. They offer tours, our timing wasn't right, after all we have a picnic to attend! I did buy some cinnamon pretzels to put in Trinity's college "care" Package. If I don't eat them first!!!!

Okay......it must be picnic time, Otis has been waiting so patiently!!!
                                                              Now he's a happy dog!
This was a nice park,Lititz Park.
I think this is where they train the ducks to walk the fountain at the Peabody Hotel in Memphis!?!

Nice picnic spot & great picnic weather!
We're going to walk from the park to uptown Lititz. This town was settled by the Moravian people as early as 1740.they settled in the Pennsylvania area to avoid persecution in their home countries, Bohemia & Moravia. Throughout the town you can see the preserved history of these proud people.

I enjoyed looking through the shops in this historic old town!
Lennie & Otis, doing their best shopping technique!

Time to head back. What Otis liked the best about this town....NO AMISH HORSE & BUGGIES!?!
(They do indeed have Amish & Mennonite neighbors!)
Heading down those country roads back to Intercourse & our RV site.
Right now Otis is getting real excited.....

From our RV site I can see the Bird in Hand Hot Air Balloon Ride!
& so I zoomed in so you can see it too!!!

Tomorrow we're leaving Pennsylvania.....
October 23, 2015-Friday- Our time had ended here in the Pennsylvania Amish Country. We certainly lucked out with the weather, it was just perfect!!! Our destination is Washington, DC.
I came out this morning just in time to watch the cows heading to pasture!
It was like Follow The Leader!

While Lennie starts the disconnect, I take Otis to the Pet Area.
                                                            One last sniff around......
His last Amish horse & buggy to raise heck with!
It was impossible to connect our car at the campground, just no space. I drove the car across the street to a shop's parking lot. There Lennie had plenty of space & flat surface.Easy peasy now!
That was our Amish Farm. I see one cow left, I wonder why he didn't go up to pasture with the others??? Maybe that's the big mouth who was MOOING so loudly the other morning!?!
                                                               Good-bye farm country........
                                                                 Hello Interstate!!!!

Even on the Interstate the leaves are still showing good color!

I couldn't catch the Maryland state sign! I tried but failed miserably!!!!
This was our lunch break! We are not that far from our destination now!

There's our first clue we're almost there!!!

                                                                          Closer!

We're here! Checking in at Cherry Hill Park! The check in line is like pulling into a truck stop for diesel fuel. This place is huge & always busy.
After Lennie connects the water & electric, I vacuum the RV & Otis takes shelter. We arrived early enough for me to go do laundry before dinner. LUCKY ME!!!!

We're only going to be here for one day, but we have a big day planned!!!!

  1. Those cows look very sick. On pic #5 the white/brown or black one in the front is so bony....that farmer should be up for cruel and abusive treatment.
