May 2-6, 2013 First leg of our Journey.....

Our destination goal when we left Florida is to reach the state of Utah before it gets too hot to enjoy.During our travels until we reach Utah our stops will be mostly one nighters, until we reach our Utah unless, there is a specific point of interest we want to check out before moving on!May 2nd we reached our destination for the night, Montgomery,Al.We stayed at The Woods RV Park, it was a small park but just for the night & a rainy night at that...
May 3rd- Our destination today was Little Rock, Arkansas. It was a drizzly rain from Montgomery,Al to little Rock.We are staying at Riverside RV park.
This is a Passport America park, which helps $$$$$! Little Rock does have a point of interest that we plan to check out, the Bill Clinton Presidential Library/Museum. From the RV park we can see the Presidential Library. It just a short walk over the bridge, but already it is getting cooler outside. So cool we're turning on the electric fireplace heater. Are we wimps or what!?!
This morning after breakfast we're going to take the walk over the bridge to see the Presidential library. Now not only is it cold & windy out.....it's also raining. The Presidential Library was great, it was a very interesting tour.
Turns out the Clinton's were in town for the dedication of the airport being renamed after Bill & Hillary. We learned from the tour, there's a small 3 bedroom atop the Library where the Clinton's stay when they're in town. We were hoping to see them, but it didn't happen! We took the free shuttle to the Market Place for a quick lunch. It was just too COLD to enjoy anything. the best thing to do was go back to the RV & have hot chocolate & turn the electric heater on.
SNOW is in the forecast for northern Arkansas!!! After dinner & TV time, we let Otis sleep with us!
When we pack for our road trip knowing we're going to be gone from home almost 6 months, we pack warm weather clothes & of course cold weather clothes you never know what you're going to need when!?! I never thought we'd be wearing our cold weather clothes right off the bat!!!!
May 4th- Glad to be leaving the cold windy, rainy weather we had during our visit to Little Rock! Our destination today is Oklahoma City,OK.Once again we had a rainy, windy drive. We arrived at Rockwell RV Park in OK City just in time to fix dinner. Good maybe the stove on will help heat things up!?! Tomorrow is suppose to be warmer.....I hope so!!!!
May 5th-We'd never been to Oklahoma before in the RV so we got to put the state sticker on our travel map. 3 more state stickers & we'll have RVed in every state, except of course Hawaii....Today is a little warmer but still a far cry from warm. Still wearing cold weather clothes!!! Sad day today we went & viewed the Memorial dedicated to the Oklahoma city bombing victims. Sad to see but unfortunately part of our history. You could still see some of the original building. Leaving the Memorial we drove to see the capital building.
I told Lennie that had been my Senior class trip when I was attending school in Kansas Oklahoma. He took a picture of me with the capital building in the background, our 45th reunion!!!!
Just down the street was the Governor's Mansion, & let me tell you the governor of Ok is living large, mansion indeed! Time to go back to the RV & Otis. An added attraction to Rockwell RV park is buffalo on the premises. We walked Otis over to check them out but he wasn't interested in them!?!
May 6th-This morning as we get ready to leave Ok City, the weather for the rest of the week is high 70's & low 80 degrees, that figures! we roll out of Rockwell at 8:00am. Our destination for today is Albuquerque,New Mexico. The scenery on our drive is starting to change from flatlands to now mountain views! We made that destination after, yes a rainy windy drive!!! I'm beginning to wish we were still in Florida!?! We are staying at the Enchanted Trails RV park.
I have to figure out how to post pictures, there are some cute photo opts here!
Lennie does all the driving & was pretty wore out after having the wind beating him up the long drive here. After dinner he pretty much fell asleep watching TV. I think I want him to turn the heater on!?! Suppose to be in the 70's tomorrow. I won't believe it till I feel it!!!! Going to be here 3 nights.H-m-m-m-m can't wait to see what tomorrow brings. I better charge my camera up tonight. Our destination goal when we left Florida is to reach the state of Utah before it gets too hot to enjoy.During our travels until we reach Utah our stops will be mostly one nighters, until we reach our Utah unless, there is a specific point of interest we want to check out before moving on!
