Our tourist destination for today was Snow Canyon, in St. George,Utah. It is a State Park $$$$$, not sure how it got it's name, tho some of the sandstone mountains do look like they are covered in snow???
as soon as we paid at the gate, & drove through, I saw this sign! Being a Turtle collector I was really hoping to see a desert tortoise......but we didn't!
Snow Canyon is a 5 mile scenic drive, with lots of ooohs & aaahs. For the adventurous, there are trails to hike & mountains to climb! If you're laid back seniors like us, you enjoy the ride, the views & the picnic!!!! (I should be doing a picnic blog!?!)
With our binoculars we were watching these mountain climbers. It was one guy, 3 gals. We surmised he must be the guide, as we saw a jeep with a professional name on the door. The girl in the blue top, we watched her change her mind & go back to ground level! I would have been with her, heck I never would have started!
Driving from Snow Canyon we have to drive downtown St. George. In the heart of downtown is the historical winter home of Brigham Young.
Zion National Park is about 70 miles from where we're staying at in Kanarraville, Utah. Kolob Canyon our next destination, is only 2 miles from where we're staying & yet it is part of Zion National Park!?!
We are in awe of Utah's scenery. Maybe because it's our first time here we're just overwhelmed with the beauty, or maybe it's because Utah is so deserving!
We say Good-bye to Kolob Canyon & drive the 2 miles to our RV Park. I have time to throw 2 loads of laundry in the park's machine before dinner. When I came back from the laundry room with laundry all done, much to my surprise Lennie was fixing dinner! NO HE WASN'T!!!! But he was working on our itinerary for tomorrow's adventure & booked a couple RV Parks for upcoming stays!
What are we doing tomorrow? Just wait!!!!
Snow Canyon State Park is a great state park with lava rocks, many awesome camping trails as well as many great rock climbing areas.
