July 4, 2013 Happy Birthday America!

Last night at bedtime Lennie told me he was going to sleep-in 4th of July morning! Yeah right!?! That man still wakes up by his built-in "work alarm" that he should have shut off 6 years ago! He did surprise me tho, instead of getting up at 6:30 am he didn't get up till 7:30 am! I could smell coffee when I got up, but I didn't see Len at the kitchen table, instead I found him outside!
This was a great idea & a great way to start the day! I brought the rest of our breakfast outside,
                                   even Otis' breakfast!
But Otis is a creature of habit & he's never had his breakfast outside & he wasn't about to start today!!!!
Today truly was a laid back day! We did a lot of nothing today! Lennie is reading a mystery & I was finishing a scarf I was working on.....
We decided to have a late lunch/early dinner so we'd be ready to the Fireworks! Len put brats on the grill!
thus our picnic today, was right at the RV!
once again, we had a left over brat, but Otis wasn't about to eat it outside!!!
Otis, like most dogs, is scared to death of the fireworks, needless to say he stayed home in the RV & we drove 10 miles to Estes Park to Lake Estes to watch the fireworks display! A crowd soon gathered around the lake front.
Everyone is waiting for the same thing!
Soon the sun is setting!
                                                                        Then it begins!
& so does the cheering!
& the oohs & aahs!
Everyone loves
a Fireworks
 display!
Every time you heard the boom & firecracker would burst into the air, by the time, the color was gone from the sky, you would hear the boom again echoing off the mountain! It was cool!
I decided to save my photo shots for the GRAND Finale, which even tho it means it's over....the grand finale is always my favorite part of the fireworks display! This is the first time we've been to fireworks & there was NO GRAND FINALE!?! The end came, there was one huge boom, we looked in the sky & NOTHING & then the crowd started clapping????? I will say this, with that loud boom, you could literally feel the ground shake! With that, everyone packed up & left!?! We had a good parking spot & it didn't take us long to work our way into the traffic & head back to the RV.It's a dark curvy road along the big Thompson River, we had  quite a string of traffic to follow....we did all right!
Otis was anxiously waiting for us, or maybe he was waiting for a McDoubles!?! Surprise Otis, we weren't gone long enough for you to "NEED" a McDoubles!
finish your DOG food & we're going to bed!

Good-Night!
